Does your kitty get vaccines? Awhile back I thought I read something about diabetic kitties shouldn't get vaccines, or certain ones anyway. My regular vet says in order to bring Tango in he has to have his rabies shot. I understand that some vets require this. I also read that if rabies vaccine is required, you can ask vet to give the Merial PUREVAX vaccine.

We need to take Tango in because he's been sneezing a lot lately. We can take him to the specialist, as they don't give vaccines at all and probably don't care if he's been vaccinated. However, if there are vaccines Tango should be getting, then we need to take him to regular vet.

Previous vaccines: Rabies - 1/2023, Leukemia - 4/2022, FVRCP - 1/2021

Have you asked your vet whether a vaccine titer would do? It tests how much antibodies are in the blood. How far you get with that can vary by vet and state in the US. I've heard that immuno-compromised kitties should not get vaccines. Neko never had any after her FD diagnosis. She had to go to the US a couple times for treatment. First time her old rabies was still current. Second time I was just flying to Colorado and they didn't require rabies at the time, as long as there was a letter from the vet. And that's coming from Canada. I inquired about Purevax, but it wasn't something her vet offered.

Thanks Wendy. Had not heard of a vaccine titer. Looked it up and will ask the vet. I talked to a vet tech today and she said that Tango probably doesn't need the rabies vaccine and if internist agrees, she can write a release letter for whomever is requesting one.
