Yesterday's Condo.

Will be interesting to see how today goes. In the past, Willie has shown the stress of car rides, vet visits, etc. in the cycle or two after the actual event while the cycle of the event is rather flat. Our PM cycle looks to have been pretty flat last night, so I will not be surprised to see red numbers today for that reason, though I am hopeful that maybe the bach flower remedy was a calming enough influence that we will see things get back to normal more quickly.

Am being so careful with new insulin... I even have it in a bubble wrap sleeve in the fridge! LOL

I'm also hopeful that the inflammation/sensitivity around the stomach/liver/pancreas noted by the vet last night may be more stomach irritation. With the skin stuff going on, Willie has been grooming ALOT, particularly over the past few days, and the result has been daily hairball pukes. I've made a couple diet changes thus far as I wait for the supplies for Dr. Lisa's diet to arrive... we have started Feline Friskies and we have replaced the salmon oil in his diet. Maybe I"m just seeing what I want to see, but I'm starting to see positive changes after only a few days. First, his hair seems to be growing back faster in the regrowth areas. Second, I'm noticing that with the current affected areas, the scabs are starting to come off more quickly, with no angry skin underneath. I am holding my breath that these positive changes will continue.

Going to try to give the Wee Dub lots of loves today. He is increasingly tired of being poked, prodded, etc.and is letting that be known. I need to make sure he knows that every time I touch him, it isn't to do something he doesn't like. I see many cuddles in our future.... starting now! :)

Have a great Saturday, Lantus Land!

Morning Christie and Willie!! I'm glad you're seeing some positive changes in Willie's skin stuff... hopefully things continue to improve. Have a great day!!

Re: 1/15 Willie AMPS 405

I hope Willie's skin conditions continue to improve. It looks like you have a good handle on his condition. I have used the bach flower remedy before on my GA Siamese, and it did seem to calm him. He would go ballistic with the Vet. Have a nice, relaxing day with Willie. Hope his numbers come down.

Re: 1/15 Willie AMPS 405

Good morning Christie and Willie, paws crossed for the skin clearing to continue. Just got caught up on your vet experience yesterday. I think you are doing the right thing for Willie. It just would have been so much more satisfying for you to have fired them.Have you seen this site for locating a vet in your area? http://www.catvets.com/findadoctor/findadoctor.aspx I don't know if sites like Angie's list have vets? Probably. You aren't the only one to have vet frustrations, but there are good ones out there. :YMHUG: cat_pet_icon cat_pet_icon cat_pet_icon

Re: 1/15 Willie AMPS 405

Good Morning Christie & Willie,
It sounds like Willie's condition is getting better. Good news! Too bad about your vet encounter, but it's good to find out these things. Since you live in a metropolitan area, you should be able to find another vet, one who will work with you, rather than against you!
Now, Willie, it's time to come down out of red, OK?

Have a fine Saturday,
Ella & Rusty

I have to go make sure I put the insulin back in the fridge. I love that you bubble wrap it HAHA. Can't be too careful.

Re: 1/15 Willie AMPS 405, +4~311, +7~269

It's the big fat bubble wrap too, LOL. Had ordered some salsa that I found inexpensive online, and they came individually wrapped in bubblewrap. Makes the perfect Lantus cozy!!!

Looks like a decent cycle coming together. No big upswing off last night's vet visit, though it's possible that may kick in next cycle. But I'm going to be optimistic. :)

Bean is off to get her hair done! Cut and color... woo!

Re: 1/15 Willie +11.5~224, PMPS 223

Looks like tonight could get interesting! Grabbing a quick dinner with a friend, but will be home by +2 in case we start to dip low!

Re: 1/15 Willie +11.5~224, PMPS 223

Hi guys! Looks like Willie may have a great cycle tonight. Awesome, and go for it Willie.

Nice to read that the skin problems seem to be clearing up. That is great. I wish you luck with the diet changes too. It should be good.

Willie - you all set to party? Grab your apron dude and lets go! We need lots of help in the kitchen. ~~ Mannie

Okay, the wee dub just scared the living crap out of me. was brushing him on the sofa, and suddenly, he fell over weird and seemed to struggle getting his balance. Immediately grabbed testing stuff, but 213 (hence the 2.5). Put him down and watched him like a hawk, and he was totally fine. The only thing I can think is that he was starting to lay on his side, where his skin is uncomfortable, tried to shift, then fell off balance and the couch wouldn't cooperate.

He's looking at me like he's asking "why you be so crazy, mama? I'z cool!" He just got a drink, used the box, and seems to be totally fine. Going to try to breathe now. Would like to not have our first visit to the specialty vet be tonight. *sigh*

so, it turns out, if you have a sofa chaise, and your cat is laying ON the chaise, it really helps if the ottoman under it is in the right place and not all cockeyed.

heart rate still not back to normal. Willie, however, seems very pleased that his chaise is now in place.
