Mikey seems to be bouncing. I'm planning to lower the carbs in his food over the weekend in an attempt to regain the blue numbers.

Speaking of the blues, I'm feeling really down tonight about the effect FD has had on my relationship with Mikey. He doesn't come to me much for cuddling, kneading, and purring now. I'm sure the pokes are part of it, but I think the biggest thing is that he doesn't get a full meal at one time. He's always liked to eat until he was full, then walk away. He regulated his own weight perfectly this way. Now he eats his mini-meal, but isn't full. He sits in mourning by his dish until I dole out some more. He's never comfortably fully until at least +2. I miss my sweet loving boy, and I'm sad that he's sad. This really stinks.

I finally went to the doctor today, because I spiked a temp. Thankfully, it's just a virus, and my lungs are clear.

As we went along in FD/acromegaly land, punkin stopped wanting to be held. He'd always been a little fungus - attached to my body like a toddler. He wasn't a lap kitty, but a chest kitty, or he'd park on my hip like a baby while i walked around, doing things around the house. I think he had arthritis and now looking at his pictures, i can really see how the acro distorted his body. That had to hurt. My point is that i understand - it was the worst part of the whole thing. I tried every pain-killing thing we could do except metacam. Nothing worked.

I hope that this is a temporary situation & as time goes on, Mikey will accept this new routine and he will forgive you for not feeding him more at once. If his weight allows it, maybe you could give more at once at preshot and see if that makes him happier.

My other thought is that cats have off days just like people - maybe he's just in a bit of a funk right now and he'll perk up. I hope so.

Glad you're not worse.

Hi Mary,
Sometimes we just have to go with the flow. Your kitty may be going through a phase. If Mikey likes to have his bowl of food filled and then eats from it over the course of a few hours, why not try that again? ECID. Rusty free-feeds, too.

Sending you some healing vines and some hugs,

Ella & Rusty

Sorry to hear you're feeling down Mary

Give him some time....as you get further down the journey, hopefully he'll adjust and return to the snuggle-butt you're used to, and as he gets better regulated, you may be able to go back to a more "normal" feeding pattern

(((Hugs)))
