Xander's still eating average this morning. I don't think its from nausea or anything, I think its just his usual low appetite drive. Sometimes he cleans bowls, and other times he doesn't. I think i'm just disappointed from going from the amazing effort-free eating on mirataz to the usual increased offerings and waste. I don't think any meds are warranted yet, as he's still eating up to his averages and not really outright refusing any meals. I feel like just the tinyiest push to his appetite would make things much easier for us both. Is periodic microdosing of mirataz a thing?

I was just at the vets with Angel today. Originally she said 14 days of Mirataz. But I asked her about it today, saying I was nervous about taking her off it. She's only been on chemo for 2 weeks now, even if only a small dose.
So she told me it's fine to give daily. We'll just call it 'off label' use. That there's no bad side effects shown from long term use.
I'm not sure how long I'm going to keep with it before trying her without. But for the immediate future, I'm going to leave her on it.
Just thought I'd share.
Who's the ginger cutie?

Thanks for the info! I've seen some other people who use it long term as well. I might consider a super small dose and talk with my vet. Even using less than a 1/4 of the full dose on the box had him eating more than he needs so we would only be talking about a drop. He's technically still eating fine, its just more stressful on me having to offer more frequently and waste more. I feel guilty because using it to get him to eat easier would be mostly for my benefit 😕

That's Xander's civvie brother Flare! I usually put in some pictures of him so he doesn't feel left out haha

I hope he keeps eating well, even if you need a tiny bit of the medication!
