ok so I went out today and bout a Relion
, I had taken his numbers today with the alphatrack and him amps was 335
+6 was 174 and his pmps was 366

BUT, the relion had said his pmps was 407
That is a 40 point difference in the OTHER direction
I guess I will have to use both for a day or 2 to moniter this,
:roll:

margin of error, though, Denise.
407 = (326-488) at =/-20%
Not sure what the margin of error is on the AT. Probably a lot less than 20%, since it's a whiz-bang made for pets and vets meter. Did it come with a manual that would tell you the accuracy range?
Are those numbers from the same drop of blood?

Every time we have tested the Relion these last two days is about 30 points under the AT. I ran a curve of sorts today and it worked out that way too. Since I have done back up tests about 10 times now and the results are so similar, I am putting the AT back in the closet for now so I don’t drive myself nutz :shock: but I will be taking it out periodically to check. Don’t want to get in this trouble again. Also my vet said I could test meters with him so when I schedule that, I will let you know the outcome.

I thought I read somewhere that the AT was in a 20% + or - range too somewhere, but I can’t find where I read that, so it could be my imagination.

The Arkray strips for the Relion are $ 32.28 for 100 at ADW and the AT ones are $54.99 for 50. It’s absolutely crazy that for that kind of money, Abbot can’t make the AT meter or strips work better.

Every now & then I get a wonky strip that's absurdly high w/.my relion. I.usually retest in that case. Uesterday I.had one at 466 which restested at 358. Doesn't happen often, though. About 1/50 or so.

You know sometimes when we hit the vein and get way too much blood? Every time I did that when before Bob was "normal", it seemed the number was higher. Don't know if it was from too much blood on the strip, or from the fact that it was "venal" blood rather than capillary blood. (The human meters are supposed to be made to read capillary blood). Any chance that was the problem with today's numbers?

When I was new, for the month that Samson was having to be on insulin....the whole meter inconsistency nearly drove me crazy......I got a Freestyle first, and you all know from other posts what totally inconsistent with the vet readings I was getting.....then I got an iPet from my vet....and it was always about 100 over the Alphatrak the vet used. Then, I got the ReliOn, and, finally, I was able to count on a meter.

My vet, when he tests with his AlphaTrak, pricks the big vein at the bottom of the ear..on the inside. Down close to what is kind of like the kitty's earlobe. His reading on the AlphaTrak and my reading done at the same time with the ReliOn (using capillary blood as we do....not blood from that vein thing) is generally 20 to 24 different....the AlphaTrak always higher. I've tested there in the office in tandem with the vet about 5 times, with the ReliOn.

No idea what this might mean.....strictly anecdotal, but it's finally something that I can live with and have some confidence in, and it has given the vet confidence in my readings with the ReliOn, too.
