B-12 does help their appy but not sure enough to make him starving. Love your title this morning...Go Elmo! (I love his name too)
Good morning Karen and Doodles....our kids named all our kitties so we have a Sesame Street flavor to Elmo's:).....this AM green is making me more confident we may be more OTJ than STALL....still watching...still cautious ...and I solemnly swear No More Pokeys thus AM :).....I need an 800 number thoo_O cos poking is addictive :woot:

There must be a 12 step program for FD parents.

Bobbie and Carla...going to be coming to you for remission experiences...so glad you have gone before Elmo and I in this :)

Girl, u have had one eventful weekend and it's only Saturday !!! I checked on u/Ozzy when up for 4am feeding ....amazing :bighug::):bighug:. Job very well done :cat:
Thanks Beth.

Then he pulled an 86 PS this morning!!! What the heck. I just shot my first back to back blue then green PS number. I'm so tired!!o_Oo_Oo_O

How long after the trial do u continue the 3,6,9 feeds???
If it's working for him, indefinitely. Remember, he's still diabetic, just no longer insulin dependant. I know from experience how easy it is to slip up and let him go back to bad habits and then fall out of remission.

Thanks, Tricia....so glad I will have you and others to ask about remission .....like ur explanation of "still diabetic, just no longer insulin dependent" ....would love to hear what I need to watch out for so I don't slip up and go back to " bad habits"....what would examples of bad habits be ??? What do I need to do to keep Elmo off insulin ??? He really behaved and went thru all the pokes and shots far better than I would have imagined but at 17 want to make sure I'm doing all I can to keep him from never going thru this again. He has earned a relaxed, simple senior season .

Keep him away from high carb food and treats, and NEVER give him dry food. That was my mistake. Cinco was a kibble addict (I imagine that's what he survived on when he was a stray - dry food left out for neighbors indoor/outdoor cats). I let him have a little after he had been in remission a while. He fell out of remission, and although I later learned he had an infection that most likely caused that, my giving him dry food almost certainly contributed to it.

Watch for the tell tale signs of FD - drinking and peeing a lot, being abnormally hungry, weight loss, etc. Test regularly - at minimum once a month (I'd do it once a week myself, but I am a recovering testaholic).

Amen...recovering TA myself..... you'd think it a welcome relief.....I have put my glucometer box away in a cabinet just to keep it out of sight ...
