AMPS 240, 3rd cycle @0.25u, 0.9oz Wellness chicken 4%
+3 0.9 oz 4%, 2.5 mg pepcid, big burp

Good morning LL! Zener is feeling a little punk today. He did go in the backyard but the poo patrol was a little lax and didn't see any action. Feeding went ok. I tried to go more slowly and stopped when he started growling. This bean can be very German sometimes: If 30 mL is the dose, then 30 mL he will get.  He growled at 28 mL so I stopped. I'm very proud of myself. I think it might be good to feed every 2.5 to 3 hours to give his stomach a good chance to empty.

We haven't heard anything else about whether the U/S is Sat or Sun.

Does anyone else's cat burp? He burped like a beer drinker this morning and has frequently in the past. Is this due to stomach acid?

Thinking of ailing kitties, beans, and droolers, Scruffy and Lyresa (thank you Sienne for the drug interaction info), Tracy (listen to your physio!), Rocket and Claudia and others.
Liz

Re: 1/13 Zener AMPS 240

Hi guys .. sorry about the poo patrol but glad to hear the feeding went well .. I'm proud of you too, for stopping at 28mL , cause I am the same way but she's SUPPOSED to get ... Never heard of a kitty burping before .. perhaps it is the acid? Have a great weekend guys!

Re: 1/13 Zener AMPS 240

Actually, Trix used to burp before she was diagnosed. I can't remember when we started noticing it, or when it stopped, but I'm assuming it was related to her diabetes and stomach acid situation in some way. Shortly before she was diagnosed, she would also throw up clear, frothy fluid before breakfast (when her stomach was completley empty). Both burping and throwing up have stopped at some point after she started insulin, however, she still gets the hiccups at times.

I'm sorry Zener is still feeling a bit punk, but great job with the feedings. Thinking of you !!!

Re: 1/13 Zener AMPS 240

You're doing a great job syringe feeding Zener! When I had to do it with Mookie, I knew how many calories I had to get into him in a 24-hour period, but I never went beyond what he could tolerate in any one feeding--and like Zener, Mookie let me know. I also fed him on a 2.5- to 3-hour schedule, as you're doing, and I put a little pumpkin in his food (I used chicken or turkey baby food) for extra fiber. All combined he started eating on his own, but it required patience and persistence. Hang in there; we're with you. :YMHUG:

Re: 1/13 Zener AMPS 240

Hi ladies, great job on the syringe feeding! No idea on the burping, never heard my kitties do it. Zener, what is going on in that tummy of yours??

We are keeping the vines coming, I hope you can get the ultrasound before Anne has to leave, and I hope you get some answers! :YMHUG:

Re: 1/13 Zener AMPS 240

Morgaine will do a little burp once in a while after scoffing down her breakfast. She is so hungry she eats too fast.

I am sending lots of good thoughts and healing vines to Zener. Hope you can get the US done before you leave for your trip.

Re: 1/13 Zener AMPS 240

Do Lou burps pretty regular and nice low yellow start Zener sorry we have been so MIA from your condo hope the US goes well

Re: 1/13 Zener AMPS 240

Great job getting him fed, Liz. I have to laugh about the German reference....Ich auch!!

Sending Zener more healing, eating, pooing vines. Hope the U/S is tomorrow.

Re: 1/13 Zener AMPS 240

Thinking of you guys! Had to sneak on real quick and see how Zener is doing. Hope you get the U/S tomorrow so Anne can be there and that it gives you answers. Healing vines and lots of love to all of you! Hang in there. You are both so upbeat, even in crisis mode.

Re: 1/13 Zener AMPS 240

Sorry to hear Zenner is feeling off again this morning. I hope you get word soon that the US will be tomorrow.

It has been quite an education learning about all the GI tract meds. One thing i haven't seen mentioned is probiotics. Any reason not to give them in this situation? They just help to keep the GI tract balanced.

Re: 1/13 Zener AMPS 240;+6 148

I just caught up on last night's condo and the mention of bibs. There was another assist feding video that I watched. The guy doing it just took a paper towel, cut a T in it to slip over the cat's head. simply tear the neck away and you have your towl for wiping his face right there. And no washing!

Re: 1/13 Zener AMPS 240;+6 148

Anne and Liz, sending vines and prayers for Zener. I get such a kick out of the poo patrol thing. I'm glad Zener went outside. I hope you hear some new of when the u/s. Hugs.

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201 US tomorrow

The vet clinic called and the ultrasound is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. We drop him off at 4, then they get him all prepared, do the ultrasound and we come pick him up. Paws crossed we learn something tomorrow.

AMPS 240, 3rd cycle @0.25u, 0.9oz Wellness chicken 4% syringe
+3 0.9 oz 4% syringe, 2.5 mg pepcid, big burp
+6 148, 0.7oz 4% syringe
~8 0.4oz 4% syringe
~11 201, 0.7oz 4% syringe
PMPS 4th cycle @0.25u

We had to test him a little early tonight and start his feedings before his shot so we can get enough food in him tonight. He is not liking to take more than 2 10mL syringes of food today, so we are having to spread it out a little more. His numbers are not terrible right now, so that is a relief. It is strange not to be testing often and worrying about managing curves with food. He spent some time outside this afternoon in his favorite spots in the backyard in the sun. He definitely is weaker though still making pee and poop. We are hoping he is still enjoying life despite our assisted feeding.

The clinic has scheduled his ultrasound for tomorrow late afternoon. It will be really tough on Liz to do all of this next week while I am away, so we are hoping we may know something before I leave Sunday morning and can make some decisions about his treatment.

We are so grateful to you all for writing on our condo and are quite overwhelmed so please accept our apologies if we don't reply to each and everyone of you, and are absent from your condos right now. It will be even more difficult next week while I am away and Liz will be doing great if she has time to post Zener's.

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201 US tomorrow

:YMHUG: I'm glad they're able to do the ultra sound, tomorrow, and I hope you get some answers before you leave on your trip.
We will be here for Liz, so if you ever need some support or whatever Liz, we're here.

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201 US tomorrow

I am holding you all in my heart and will be watching for a report tomorrow evening. :YMHUG:

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201 US tomorrow

I just had to stop in with some hugs. I'll be thinking of you guys tomorrow, and hopefull the US will help map out the next steps. I know it's very hard for you guys with Anne heading over seas, but as Dyana said, we're all here for all of you.

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201 US tomorrow

I'm sure your assisted feeding is harder on you than Zener, out enjoying some sun - he's still enjoing life

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201 US tomorrow

Hi Anne, so glad the U/S is tomorrow as that will give some time for you to assess before leaving for your trip. Lots of vines and prayers for Zener and for you and Liz. So glad he goes out to the backyard. Lots of hugs.

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201;+1 249, ate a little, US tomorrow

Zener just ate a little bit of Halo freeze dried chicken broken up with lots of water, and then he ate small bits of duck and pea pill pocket with his pepcid and Zobaline inside. :o

We are trying not to get our hopes up too high. It is the first food he has wanted to eat since this all started Monday night.

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201;+1 249, ate a little, US tomorrow

Just sending lots of love, hugs, prayers, and support. Don't worry about visiting condos or anything else but Zener.

Paws crossed for tomorrow's U/S.

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201;+1 249, ate a little, US tomorrow

Good news that the U/S is scheduled for tomorrow. We'll be thinking really good thoughts for the procedure.
Anne, we'll all be looking out for Zener while you're away and Liz knows that we are here, thinking those good thoughts, especially when she doesn't have time to post. (Edward and I know what the beginning of the semester is like!!!)

Have a good evening. I hope Zener will eat some more tonight.

Hugs,
Ella & Rusty

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201;+1 249, ate a little, US tomorrow

I am hoping for the very best news from the U/S and want you to know we are here sending lots of prayers and healing vines for Zener to feel better each day. Hoping this will all pass and zener will start eating again without assistance. Meanwhile you are making sure Z gets his needs met. And yay for him eating some goodies on his own.

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201;+1 249, ate a little, US tomorrow

Anne and Liz, I'll be thinking about y'all and Zener tomorrow. I'm glad to know they are able to do the U/S tomorrow before Anne leaves. I really hope you can get some answers.

Yay on Zener eating a little freeze dried chicken. My kitties love that stuff so much!

Hugs and prayers!

Re: 1/13 Zener PMPS 201;+1 249, ate a little, US tomorrow

PMPS 4th cycle @0.25u
+1 249, 1PP with 2.5mg pepcid, 3mg Zobaline and small piece of FDCK, 1.05oz 4% syringe, followed by a giant belch!
+1.5 0.7oz 4% syringe
~2 0.35oz 4% syringe
+3.5 0.7oz 4% syringe
+5.5 303, 0.7oz 4%

He seems to be feeling a little better tonight. A few growls when feeding at the end and he is squirming a little more. So, there's still some feisty in the big guy. Our animal communicator said Zener says it's worth a try to get him eating again. Now we feel comfortable knowing what he wants, we'll see what the results of the tests are tomorrow.

Thanks for all your love and support. Ni ni LL. I-)
