Yesterday's Excitement.

Hoping he clears this bounce quickly. Ready for tomorrow... took three syringes to get no air bubbles this morning! Calling in late to work and heading back to bed, so I'll be checking condos later! Will definitely get at least a +2!

Really nice job last night, Christie! Hope you enjoyed your btb! Not surprising that Willie bounced.

In the future, if you get an Rx from your vet, you can order Lantus pens or cartridges from Canada Drugs Online. It's pretty cold now, and there is a danger of the insulin freezing during transport, so I would wait until the warmer weather. But it is a much cheaper way to get a 5-pack of Lantus pens or cartridges. Your vet needs to fax in the Rx, or you need to mail in the actual paper prescription. Once you've ordered and they receive the Rx, the insulin arrives in about 7-10 days. It is well packed. Here's the link.

Thanks for your help with migraines!! My doctor prescribed vit. D, too, but it resulted in more frequent headaches!!! EBeanID!!

p.s. Did I send you my "technique" for cutting down on air bubbles in the syringe? The most important thing to do is this:
Work the plunger back and forth; then PUSH it in FORCEFULLY and HOLD it all the way pushed in while you insert the needle into the vial or cartridge. Then SLOWLY draw out a little more insulin than you need. This greatly minimizes bubbles, but if there should still be bubbles, flick them up to the top of the syringe. Then, slowly, TWIST the plunger until you arrive at your dose. Any air bubbles at the top will be expelled with the excess insulin. Twisting is more accurate than pushing.
I may already have sent you this technique. If so, sorry for the duplication.

Thank you for the bubble tips, Ella! I didn't have that info and will definitely try tonight! I get you on the EBID business... that is what makes migraines so infuriating! Looking at a couple options now in terms of jaw devices and possible preventative meds (Inderal, for one), but I'm not sure. One other tip for the "in the throes" situation... I have an over-the-knee softball sock that I filled with flaxseeds and put velcro on the end to keep it closed. If I have a stubborn headache, I find that it is the perfect length to go around the back of my head and around to my temples, and it's flexible so I can get to the spots that need a little relief. That, and I pull my hair. LOL apparently, I'm not crazy... gentle hair pulling helps to open up the blood vessels in the scalp and can provide relief as well. who knew!

Looks like we we're hovering around 400 today, which I can live with. Hopefully we'll come down some tonight. I did decrease to 1.5 today, so I hope he responds well to that and other than tennis lessons and a much overdue hair appointment on Saturday afternoon (with maybe early dinner thrown in depending on Willie's numbers), I'm around all weekend to monitor and have Monday off. Lots of cleaning, organizing and furniture rearranging this weekend.


Okay, have to get out of the pjs and off to work. Not sure why... I'll be just a little more than worthless today. LOL

Hi Christie! What a nice day yesterday for Willie - great numbers!! Sorry for the pink today - hopefully this bounce will be short, and Willie will clear it quickly. Ella's tip for bubbles works really well - it is how I draw insulin too.

The twisting business is a revelation, and Ella is my new personal hero!

The falling 315 caught my eye... may eat a quick dinner and take a nap just in case we're in for another night of fun!

Those air bubbles.. I saw them for the first time today.. or should I say Bubble.. only one but the dang thing never went away :YMSIGH:
I am using Ella's technique tomorrow too! Hmmm.. I hope you get some sleep tonight.. since you had an all nighter last night!

Amen to that! Looking at his SS, stuff started getting interesting at +5, so headed to bed now for 2.5 hrs of sleep just in case! The poor Wee Dub is so tired of pokes at this point. :(

Awakened by the sounds of kitty pukes. poor guy has been grooming a LOT lately b/c of his skin issues. Since I was awake, I poked. Should be another fun night!

Wow! Awesomeness here.. what kind of food is Willie on? My Raw saws it virtually solves allerige issues. Are you on a new Lantus Pen? If not.. your 40 day old is not looking at all bad.. what kicked this lil body into action all the sudden.. I need to go look at past condos & your spreadsheet, welcome to the zombie life of reduced rest.. yes, we should meet for coffee sometime.
