Just came from the Vets.. He was eating, very happy to see me, vocal, ate more while I was there and really seemed his old self. They said there was an excellent chance he could come home tonight!! I am visiting him and bringing some food later.

Will be learning more about following up on his liver levels later today.

Thank you all again for your positive support!!!!!!
 
Wonderful news!!!!!! Sending more snowflakes and healing vines to Slashy. Looking forward to his return home and an update later.

Sienne - what specifically would you like to see? I have labs from yesterday's blood work. Main headings are:
LaserCyte
Catalyst Dx
VetLyte
 
Rick: If you can scan in the lab work Cassandra will probably be able to help with that. She is very good in that area. Good luck. Hope he comes home tonight.
 
What awesome news! Yay Slashy!

Now, you should get ready for tonite's pickup and have your questions ready about all the test results. Make yourself a list, and take it with you.

I have found that I just can't remember everything; I am all nervous and just not calm enough to remember everything said. If you show up with the results, a list of questions and a pen, they should be able to give you the layman's explanation of each value, what's good/bad, what's being looked for, what was found, what needs to be done, etc. Write it all down as it's being said and tell them to sloooow down if you have to, just get it all and you can munch on it later with the experts here.

I did that and now I can go back over the results I have and the notes I took whenever I need a reminder on a point or two. Hey, I do the same thing for myself! I have copies of all results for my bloodworks and tests that are in a ME folder.

Let's hope it was a wee bug combined with better food at the vet's!

Got home from the Vets.. am toold he does have pancretitis. They gave us a mirad of meds (I wont go into the bill!!!)

the Spec fPL came back at 5 (not sure if i am reading this right)

Meds..Zentonil
Baytril
Cisapride
Famotidine
Buprenex (as needed for pain..)
 
Glad he's home...many have experience with pancreatitis....
that is quite a list you have there...Oh my...wishing you well with this....
Guess Slashy is so happy to be home again!
 
Thank goodness Slashy is home and you know what the problem is and you have the meds to fix it.

I sure hope Sashy starts feeling better once the meds get working.
 
I'm so glad to hear that slashy was feeling good and then reading that Slashy is home...that really is great news to hear. Now that you got a dx, you can work on fixing the problem. Sending some feel good vibes your way!
 
I'm glad Slashy is home and eating!

There are a lot of chronic pancreatitis cats here and most find that it is very treatable, especially now that you know what to look for and have the tools to treat him at home. I see that Cassandra sent you two good links yesterday, and those will help you keep Slashy comfy until his flare has passed.
 
Rick - thanks for offering. I didn't really need the specifics of the labs. I was wondering what the vet was going to say about the diagnosis. There's lots of experience here with pancreatitis. Probably one of the best things is what you did -- you noticed that something was out of kilter with Slashy and got him in to see your vet.
