Hi folks,

Junior is still struggling in the litter box again this morning and nothing is coming out. I have an appointment for him on Saturday for a check up with our Vet. I have decided no more enemas as his little body needs a break. It will be interesting to see how much weight he has lost. He was over weight when all this started. I have a feeling there is something else in his colon. He is otherwise happy and enjoying his old chair. He is tasting but not eating so I assume his BG numbers will be up and down depending on how much he eats.

Vines for all who need them.

Thanks

Linda

update +5 he is eating a small amount and it began by licking off the fortiflora from the food.
update +9 not eating

I wouldn't worry about his BG's unless he's too low of course. Poor little man, I sure hope there is something they can figure out ASAP. Sending mega feel better vines and prayers.

Wonder if @Peg and Toby has anything to add about mega colon. Her new baby Willy has it but think he's doing pretty good.

I joined the Yahoo mega colon forum. They were very helpful. Willy is on 1/4 teaspoon of Miralax 2x a day. I know that diabetic cats aren't supposed to eat hard food but they suggested giving Willy Royal Canin Veterinary gastro intestinal response hard food 1/4 cup 2x a day and it has worked wonders for him. You have to get a precription from your vet. to get it out of Chewy's or Amazon. The vet. can also order it for you. Willy also gets FF and friskies pate canned food. He doesn't even need the cat laxative anymore. The gastro intestinial food is designed to be able to pass through the intestine easily. Willy doesn't have diabetes. If you haven't joined the MC forum it may be worth your while to join. Willy was also at the vets getting enemas before we tried this food.
I hope we have been helpful. Good Luck.:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Peg and thanks for answering,
I have tried 3 times to find the yahoo group since folks are suggesting it. I wonder if you could send me a link because I cant find it using Bing or google or yahoo even.
I will have to find out about the food and the carbs in it. It is such a juggling act with the diabetes and the mega colon. My Vet is trying and shaking her head at times.

I got a hold of royal
Canine and asked about the carb content on the food and it is 38.9%.

Yikes on the Royal Canin carbs! Any chance there is a vet nutritionist somewhere in your area? Maybe they could help you with a recipe to make food that would do what the RC does, but in a wet or lower carb format.

Is this the group: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Feline_Megacolon/info

Sending vines for Junior.:bighug:
thanks Wendy! I am going to call the apothecary in St Cloud tomorrow and talk to them. Maybe they can mix something up and cisipride as well.
