Ok sounds good! I can get another test. To be completely honest, I don’t test him more because he’s starting to get really hard to test. At first he would just take it, but you can tell he’s extremely uncomfortable and it’s very much making my heart hurt. It just hurts him and his ears are getting bumps all over them. That’s why I don’t test him as much as other people on here, outside of curve days, because I don’t think it’s necessary to test him all the time every day (meaning testing him every 2 hours or so like most people do) especially on bounce days, so I test him mainly AMPS and PMPS unless it’s curve day or when he has low numbers. I can start testing him a bit more but again it’s just making me feel bad with how uncomfortable he’s becoming with it and I just don’t have the money to buy test strips alllllll the time to keep up with testing him every hour or two, it’s just not something I feel is necessary right now in this very second. Especially since he’s bouncing it looks like.Hi Katrina
just a reminder that we don’t recommend dose increases, even though he’s not ready for one right now, unless we know how low the current dose is taking him. Without a nighttime test each evening, you are missing a lot of data. If you could just get a +2 and before bed, that would really help.
Have a great weekend.
Thank you. Even one test a night is helpful for data. If you go to bed at +4 then one night, grab a +3 and the next a +4. Kind of like you’ve done.Ok sounds good! I can get another test. I also want to mention, he is a huge grazer eater. So I kind of think a lot of his numbers aren’t super accurate anyways. He just isn’t the type of cat to eat all of his breakfast at once and I won’t make him do that. He usually eats breakfast and finishes it hours later, than a couple hours later it’s time for dinner..and he won’t finish it until like 11:00pm. So that’s another reason why I don’t test all the time every single day because the numbers will probably be very affected due to him basically eating all day. So ya that’s kind of my explanation![]()
Ya I can most definitely do a +2 or +3 every night! And no I actually haven’t tried witch hazel! And ok good to know about the 31g lancet. Can I poke him any where besides his ears?Thank you. Have you ever tried some witch hazel to heal his ears? Also, a 31g lancet is easier on the. As long as you are good at poking.
Some people poke the toe pads but I never have. Are you making sure the bevel on the lancet is face up? Warming his ears and rubbing them a bit?Ya I can most definitely do a +2 or +3 every night! I haven’t been warming his ear up but I do rub it once I’m done poking! Some people poke the toe pads but I never have. Are you making sure the bevel on the lancet is face up? Warming his ears and rubbing them a bit?
If you make a rice sock (buy a baby sock and fill with rice) and heat it for just a few seconds in the microwave, then you can use it to warm his ear. Be sure you test it on your own skin before you put it on his ear.I haven’t been warming his ear up but I do rub it once I’m done poking!

Here are some other testing tips to help you.
You’re welcome. I really hope it helps his poor little ears.Oh great! Thank you!!
