Yesterday's Condo.

Wee Dub is running high this morning. All Ps in place, got some nice 6am snuggles. Hoping Senor will come down from there today! Going to hang around for a +2 (can work from home for a bit this morning). I do have a huge deadline today, so there is some perverse relief in knowing I won't have to be worrying about him going hypo on me.

My vial of Lantus is almost 40 days old at this point, and it's been put through the ringer... I've left it out overnight a few times, dropped it a couple, spent at least a week shooting air bubbles back into it, etc. Going to ask the vet on Friday to rewrite his Rx so we can start fresh with a set of the pens. Hopefully, that will help. His skin looks a little better today. Can't wait to get him started on the new regime to see how all that works!

Off to the shower with me... gotta start reviewing this 50 page brief I was supposed to read last night!

Have a great Wednesday. I'll be watching and hoping the new regime works wonders for Willie. Hope the new lantus brings his numbers down for you also.

I'm sure a new pen of Lantus will help bring down Willie's numbers, especially considering what the old one has been through!!

More pinks and reds today. I guess if he stays a bit high the next couple days, I won't have to worry about trying to clear a vet visit bump? ever the optimist... I can tell his numbers are high... a lot more pees in the box and a lot more time spent at the water bowl. Hopefully, his numbers will come down tonight.

Off to finish cooking dinner!

I'm glat to hear you're seeing some positive changes with Willie's skin. I also think you're way overdue for new Lantus.

With the Alphatrak, that's a blue! Nothing like skipping the pinks and yellows altogether! Setting the alarm now to keep an eye on things tonight.

Thanks for weighing on the Lantus, Sienne. I wasn't sure if I was just being overly reactive about it or just searching for a justification for his numbers. I'm sure my vet will have no problem prescribing the pens for me, so I think that will help quite a bit. Our appointment is at 4:30, and the Costco pharmacy doesn't close until 7, so we should be able to start that on Friday night.

Just out of curiosity... what are people paying for the Solostar pens? the Costco discount program covers levemir and not lantus, but I found another discount program that will hopefully help a little. Willie's consult with Dr. Lisa was expensive (and worth every penny), so it's a fun week balancing the finances.

Okay.. here is the deal... with finances.. I completely understand.. if you want to just buy 1 pen at a time.. call an outpatient hospital pharmacy & they will sell you one since they use them in higher volume.. you can expect to pay just under $50.00, I have a coupon for $25 off your first RX & it would be your 1st at a new pharmacy. Also, I work for SLHS & that is where I got my 1 pen.. here is their #816.932.2000 & ask for the outpatient pharmacy.. of course you can use any hospital.. just providing their # because I know it :lol:

***If you want a pen before Friday.. I do have 2 extras right now & could give up one tomorrow for you.

I don't know who is in charge over at Lantasy Island, but seriously. The "Cliff Dive into the Blue Lagoon" ride should seriously be shut down.

Thanks for the info and the PM too!!! On the 40 days... my vet had told me I should expect my vial to last 2-3 months. Adding that to the list of misinformation I've received.....

LOL I think Willie lost one on your page, so it all works out! :)

Just pushed him off the couch towards the kitchen. Hope he's actually eating in there. We may have to bust out some carbs here in a bit. The 106 is actually a 76 when you account for the Alphatrak! And we generally nadir at +7. What sucks is, we're both tired, so he'll look all spacey and then I freak out. of course, if I hadn't constantly awakened him all night with an "ARE YOU SEEPIN'??????," he might actually be more rested. heh.

fed 1 1/2 tsp of friskies w/gravy knowing that he may not nadir for another hour (and that I might accidentally fall asleep any minute now.....so. sleepy.)

Our 92 at +7 is within the machine margin of error, so not going to feed any carb foods knowing he should be headed upwards shortly. Will check again at +7.5.

I agree.. don't feed any carbs right now.. it is going on +8 & you both should be in bed! You are doing a great job, he is surfing!
 
+7.75 was a 96, +8 a 119. Looks like we're headed up and the bean can finally go to bed. Going to set the alarm to catch at least a +11.5, shoot at +12 then go back to bed for a bit. Bean may be calling into work late this morning...
