She dropped quite a bit at +1. I had a leftover can of 4%, so I want to give today's snacks from it if possible to use it all up.

Might need to open a can of something with higher carbs at +2 though if she keeps dropping at this rate.

We had a big drop :facepalm: had to give some high carb. I was worried about this, should've went with a higher carb at the +1 instead of worrying about wasting food.

Reflecting on the day, I think I made two mistakes...

1) I typically give a medium or even high carb full breakfast when the AMPS is under 100. I only did a 5%, it was too weak and the onset came on strong.

Here I should of done a 9% or even 14% full breakfast.


2) For the +1, a drop from 97 to 79 is pretty significant when you're in lower numbers. I should of noticed a deep dive was already in progress and maybe could have hampered the action with a much higher carb than only 4%. Looking back at my posts, I had already second guessed my decision after the fact when updating my post.

Here I should've done a 14%.


Good reminder for me to stop and think more sometimes on the best decision with the food choices. I see I made a comment about not wanting to waste opened food I wanted to use up, but who cares, the bounce I might have prevented tonight is worth way more than a $2 can of food.

The photo above in post #8 is CUTENESS overload! You managed today's AM cycle very well.

JMHO and FWIW, I would have kept the feeding schedule exactly as you did at AMPS through AM+4.5 as long as I was able to monitor.
At AM+6, that 58 was flat with the prior readings so I would not have feed the high carb food rather a tsp of the 4%. At that point, Kona had nadir. Feeding the HC shortened the duration of the cycle which shot her up to the yellows then pinks.
Wendy has described it as "Think of the insulin cycle like driving a car. The first part of the cycle the insulin is pressing on the gas and taking down the BG. After nadir, the foot is off the gas and you are coasting towards that stop sign (end of cycle) as the BG numbers go up. If you give any carbs after nadir, that can tap on the brakes of the insulin action and cause the car to stop earlier than that stop sign. Meaning insulin effect wears off early = higher number for preshot."

GREAT insight, Angela... I can totally see that now and hadn't thought of that as one of my other missteps. I was such in a hurry to get her into the safe zone so I could go grocery shopping. :blackeye:
