That’s funny about the pill factory! I run a capsule filling factory as well! I pack Rutin into size 2 gelcaps and Ginger takes 4 Rutin per day (so that’s eight capsules). Fortunately, I can mix her Nattokinase into food since it doesn’t seem to have much flavor (she gets 15-20 per day.). And, of course the Jarrow B Right I put into size 4 capsules so that I can put her Lasix and her Clopidogrel in there. Or, in the morning, I put the Lasix into a Rutin capsule. I’m a gelcap fanatic! If I give a Cerenia, I always squeeze the tablet into a size 4 gelcap so nobody has to taste the nasty flavor. I do it with most meds and have even put Zofran “mini melts” into gelcaps. It’s so much better. You can even scrape the capsule over a stick of butter on one end to help if you want to — and if they spit the gelcap out, the medication isn’t starting to dissolve in their mouth. Just yesterday I had to give Drontal (dewormer) to some kittens and a few adult cats who were sharing the same litter box; I gel capped the Drontal. It’s nasty and starts to disintegrate almost immediately inside the mouth. I keep size 2,3, 4, and 5 capsules on hand. So I’m right there with you on running a pill factory. Lol!
I’m happy to hear that your Penny is doing so much better now. What a scare. I hope she does well on the Solensia. I had started one of my cats on it and it seemed to help her. I stopped last September though and have just switched to Adequan because it’s less expensive than the $70.00 monthly shot and I don’t have to drag her to the vet monthly for this. Intra-Muscular Adequan injections can be done at home. I just did her first one yesterday! At first it’s twice a week for Four weeks, then once a week for 4 weeks and then once a month. I hope it will help Sheba because I know they (Solensia and Adequan) work completely differently. I just still have too many questions about Solensia since it’s still new in the U.S. (I know some of our European members have been using it for a while now.) It was not approved for use in humans due to problems with it rapidly accelerating joint damage. Cats and humans are different though. Actually, both Solensia and Adequan can be given concurrently since they do work differently.
