1/11 Tiger AMPS 202

Just another thought? Did you treat the girls? Even though they may not have apparent ear problems, I am speculating on whether there could be something that gets passed between them - and Tiger’s the one who is hypersensitive to it (whatever it is - mite? Or something else?). Just thinking out loud again….
Let me know if this helps his face as well. ❤️

That’s so good. I don’t know what that is and I wish the vet had been able to see something on their microscope, but I had a sneaking suspicion that his face was related to whatever is in his ears. You know how sometimes the vets can’t see bacteria under the microscope and sometimes can’t successfully culture anything but your cat still seems to have a UTI and responds to antibiotics? Or sometimes they will see bacteria on the microscope but the culture is unsuccessful…. I figure his ears are like that too… there’s something in there that just wasn’t showing itself. Does he seem happier now? I guess I will check today’s condo to find out!

Exactly. I knew it was caused by mites. From what I have read there are different types of mange caused by different mites. We are so fortunate to have treatments that are effective for this stuff now. I remember reading James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small years ago and he told a very sad story about a dog with Demodectic Mange that is caused by a demodex mite that lives in the dog’s hair follicle. The dog had such a bad case and they didn’t have very good treatments for it so, in the end (after The author had tried to save the dog) this perfectly lovely dog had to be euthanized. Sorry for the sad story. It just stuck with me and made me think that I am very thankful we have better treatments for parasites these days.
