Cut his dose after the seizure. Will discuss w/ the vet today. I don't think I want to make any changes until after we get the fructosimine test results.

Someone asked if he had fluids in abodmen or chest..Vet did not detect either. The FIP symptoms he is currently presenting are elevated protein, somewhat anemic and the seizure. His vision seems fine.

Biopsies on Little Kitten should be back today. Wish us luck. :-D

Just wondering, since it seems a low was (eta: possibly?) missed here, is there any way you can get spot-check tests in, overnight at around +7, +8, or thereabouts, in future?
(eta: just ignore me if I'm way off base or missing something else, OK?)

Hello Perry... I know I am bad at night time checks. Been scolded (well meaning of course) on here many times. I have alot of trouble getting myself to do, I admit. +7 is 1am for me.

Good morning guys .. I will be keeping you guys in my thoughts today .. I know spot checks are hard at night .. we have three alarms set .. one on each side of the bed and one across the room ... seems to work for the most part! Try and have a good day, ok?

Re: 1/11 Slashy AMPS 429

As of right now, no biopsies have returned. Little Kitten is coming home tonight regardless. She has a feeding tube, which we have experienced before, years ago. Still not looking forward to it in anyway. Am glad she will be home tho.

Re: 1/11 Slashy AMPS 429

A feeding tube can be a life saver. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Don't hesitate to ask folks here or on Health for ideas if you need them. I think Karrie/Maverick has done quite a bit with assist feeding.

Thanks..good to know. Slashy had fatty liver syndrone several years ago and the tube did in fact save his life. Just looking at Little Kitten with that thing coming out her neck is giving me flashbacks tho!! The Vets are going to give us a refresher lesson later today. Just keeping fingers crossed for irritable bowel, not lymphoma.

Tested negative for FIP!!!!!!!!!!!! Who hoo!! :-D What a break!

His fructosimine came back at 476, rated "poor". Upon discussion w/ the vet I am bumping him back up to 6. At this time Vet is not suggesting further tests, just observation. Does anyone have ideas/questions/suggestions that i should bring up with the vet concerning the seizure?

No biopsy returns for Little Kitten today. Another day of waiting. She is home now, which is good. She ate on her own at the Vets today. Right now is dinner time. We have her isolated w/ food at the moment. (Have to keep Slashy away from the the food, you know). Using a feeding tube is like riding a bike!

Re: 1/11 Slashy AMPS 429

Lots of experience. Just a two refresher points ... flush well (especially after meds) and have plain coca cola on hand for unblocking the tube if it blocks(so you don't have to run out and get it). I would look up the kittykollar online too. Its a product a lot of etube users are purchasing and is being placed in vets offices. Your vet may sell them. For etube users that makes it really easy to clean the insertion site and also helps prevent the tube from being pulled out.

hey Rick

thank you for keeping us posted. Yai for no FIP!
I'm sorry to hear about Little Kitten, lots of good positive thoughts your way.

And totally do use the resources in the main health forum as well, should you need it.
There are a few vet techs plus Dr Lisa who visit that forum here and there.
Someone mentioned having Slashy's heart checked the other day, I don't know anything about that, but could ask your vet.

I know you don't want me to say this, but I'm going to say it anyway. The best way to rule out high or low BG as a factor in the seizures is home testing. In other words, more spot checks.

When the vet ran labs for FIP, did they run a full blood work up and/or a metabolic panel? You'd want electrolytes and pH (to rule out metabolic acidosis). I know how they test for a seizure disorder in humans but I can't see how that would work with a cat. Maybe posting on health so one of the vet techs that frequents that Board could offer some suggestions might get you pointed in the right direction.

From http://www.manhattancats.com/Articles/seizures.html
A thorough history and a comprehensive physical exam and neurologic exam, including a funduscopic exam (evaluation of the retinas) must be done in all cats with a history of seizures. A complete blood count, serum biochemistry panel, urinalysis, and evaluation of infectious disease (FeLV, FIV, FIP, Toxoplasma, Cryptococcus) should be performed or considered. Often, these tests are normal. If neurologic deficits were detected on examination, a CSF tap and advanced imaging tests (CT scan or MRI) are advised.
The article I linked is geared more to frequent seizures than an isolated one. I would make sure there is nothing that Slashy could have gotten into that would be toxic to a cat.

Hey Sienne, I understand your heart is in the right place :) I wish I was able to test as much as many others, I do my best. I will review your questions w/ the vet tomorrow. I promise! Thank you for caring...Rick
