Morning,
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=111635

To bring you up to date on the trip Ole took us on last night:
pmps 245
+1 332
+3 170
+4 131
+5 71
+5.5 101
+6 86
+7 97

Booooiiinggg!

I could tell that he was up there because he was so hungry this morning. Last night he was enjoying his snacks a plenty, but this morning he is back in manic mode.

I'll let you know how his P's are later on as the day progresses. Thanks again for all of the support last night! We loved it.

Re: 1/11 Ole AMPS 493

not a surprise the little guy is back at 493 this morning - but what a great night! i hope you don't mind that i went to bed - Wendy said she was staying up to check neko anyway and was happy to keep up with you and Ole'. Are you still going to hike the Grand Canyon today?

Since it was Ole's first foray into the greens, he may bounce and stay high for as many as 3 days. if so, don't worry - he'll come back down. he might surprise us and make it shorter, but don't let whatever high #s he puts out worry you!

have a great day! julie

Re: 1/11 Ole AMPS 493

Good morning again!
Thank you Julie for your reassurance about the bounce, as I was sad to see red again.

We were both so tired this morning, we went back to bed! Ole never sleeps after breakfast, so that's telling.

Alex got up and was hanging out with Ole while I slept a little longer and reports that Ole is very affectionate, jumping up on Alex's lap for huge happy purrs and getting his favorite parts rubbed, wait for it... wait for it... his cheeks and his arm pit, oh, that feels good!

Let's hope he clears this bounce with his usual zeal.

Rebekah and Ole

Oh, I wasn't able to join my lady friends for a hike down Grand View trail in the Grand Canyon, but there is always next weekend, if Ole permits. What a life!

Re: 1/11 Ole AMPS 493 +3 430

my husband became a 100% partner in caring for punkin before too long - at first it was me, but then he learned it all too. still, you give up some things when you have a diabetic kitter. it was worth it, though. every moment. when my quilting group went for our annual retreat to the coast, i took punkin with us the last 2 years. what could be better than a cat on a quilting retreat at the beach, anyway?

People have told me (ie, i haven't done the research myself) that the highs from a bounce (which is caused by the liver) are less harmful to the cat's body than the highs from not enough insulin. Punkin didn't seem to feel as yucky from bouncing highs than from the highs early on when he just didn't have enough insulin yet. so for what it's worth, i'll pass that on to you.

hope you can rest and do something you enjoy today.

Re: 1/11 Ole AMPS 493 +3 430

Great night last night! Hoping this is a nice quick bounce for you! So exciting to see the pretty numbers popping in now! :-D

Re: 1/11 Ole AMPS 493 +3 430

YUCK on the bounce, but it's nice to see that Ole CAN get into green numbers on this dose! Hopefully he'll clear it sooner rather than later and will get back into those pancreas healing blues and greens!

Ole...You stop that bouncing this instant, you hear?

Re: 1/11 Ole AMPS 493 +3 430

Adding my good vines and wishes for a short bounce and soft landing - preferrably in the blues and greens! :-D

It's wonderful when the dh gets involved. I'm so glad mine is willing to give the shots, since my poor hands have a hard time with the syringes. He gets up for the 6:30 am shot, whether it's a work day or not. Lucky us to have such good dhs!

Isn't it a little chilly at the canyon this time of year?

Hope you have a lovely day.

Re: 1/11 Ole AMPS 493 +3 430 +6 HI

Bummer!

Thanks for all of your good words, they really keep me going as you know how I stress when he's in the Bla__.

He is doing fine today, not feeling too badly, so it seems.

We've been having a mild January here in Northern AZ. I am a winter weather lover, I was all jealous over the arctic vortex. I wanted some of that action! The only reason that I'm hiking in the canyon this time of the year is because our snow is dismal and I can't ski. It is never too cold!

Thanks again for your visits and support.

Re: 1/11 Ole AMPS 493 +3 430 +6 HI

Hi Rebekah,

I know how hard those high numbers are to see after you've been down a bit. I still hold my breath every time I test and worry when the numbers go up even a little.

Re: 1/11 Ole AMPS 493 +3 430 +6 HI

G-day Rebekah. Great job last night, but it sure is tiring. Think of today as recovery days for both you and Ole. Although that +6 is ugly, it's because he got into such wonderful numbers last night and this is his adjustment period until those blues and greens become the new normal. And you get a pokie break now.

Skiing is crummy here too due to the mild winter, although our current storm is dumping a lot of snow on the local mountains. Paws crossed that means skiing soon.

Re: 1/11 Ole AMPS 493 +3 430 +6 HI +9 382

Nice drop into the pinks!! That first bounce is hard because you get so excited from the good numbers. But Ole will adjust.

I love seeing snow...on the TV. Matt is from NY and he says he moved South so he didn't have to shovel it anymore. He thinks I'm crazy.

Re: 1/11 Ole AMPS 493 +3 430 +6 HI +9 382 PMPS 393

Hello All,

It looks like Ole is back in the pink, which I like better than those other colors.

Ole has been in good spirits all day, had a nice poo and the litter box is full. He's sitting here washing his face and looking mighty pleased with himself.

I'm off to bed as I am so tired from last night. Alex will be testing Ole, and if anything unusual happens, he will wake me. He has been by my side all along and really lends a hand.

Later!

Rebekah

You've got a keeper there! Matt does the same thing. He goes to work at 4am - gotta love the 24 he TV news business - so he grabs a test at 3:30 (+7.5) and then let's me know if I need to be up before the 8am shot. Sometimes Cobb's alarm for his shot will wake me up. Sadly, I know that will change whenever I go back to work and have to deal with ATL traffic again.

Get some sleep!! You deserve it!

Re: 1/11 Ole PMPS 393 +2 291 +5 125

Hey!

Here we go again? Has Ole cleared his bounce?

Hang on!

Rebekah

Re: 1/11 Ole PMPS 393 +2 291 +5 125

yuppers! good spotting! and that was in just 24 hrs - awesome. he's getting used to being in some better numbers.

I love that he doesn't appear to be a diver kitty - one of those who can drop 100 pts in an hour unexpectedly. again a nice slow drop.

I'd test again in another hour. you didn't really plan on sleeping tonight, right?! :-D

Re: 1/11 Ole PMPS 393 +2 291 +5 125

Hahaha!

Yes, another exciting evening at our house!

I'm going back to bed, Alex is up and will test Ole at +6 and wake me. He's up so late because he is shoverdosing on Dexter, so I might as well get some cat naps in. See you in a hour!

Nice job clearing that bounce, Ole! And so quickly too!!

I know you and Cobb are kindred spirits here, but could you give your beans a break and have these dropping episodes during the day please?? We are tired!!

Re: 1/11 Ole PMPS 393 +2 291 +5 125 +6 139

Looks like he's starting to come up on his own. You could probably test in 30 and if he's still on the rise, hit the pillow. Love what is happening - would love it even more during the daytime. :-D

Good advice from Wendy.

If possible, this would be a good opportunity to fill in either a PM+10 or PM+11. Important data.
Also, will give you time to consider your options should you be faced with your first blue PS :-D

Re: 1/11 Ole PMPS 393 +2 291 +5 125 +6 139 +7 166

Yes Sandy, I can do that.

What are my options if I awake to a blue or yellow PS?

Have a good night!

Assuming you can be home to monitor and have plenty-o-strips and HC food:

If Ole is over 150- shoot.
If Ole is under 150 - post, don't feed and ask for advice.

Very Exciting
