Zener stills seems a little punk this morning although he did go outside for a picnic. Last night he told me "More petting, less worry." so I guess that's my new year's resolution! Thank you to Amy & Trixie for describing the benefit of adequan for Mario's arthritis, which may be the source of Zener's punkness too. We're going to find out more.

We are switching meters and I took the first measurement with the new meter this morning. We'll overlap for a few days to get a feel for the new one vs. the Alpha Trak. Ugh.

One more day for Anne to have restricted visual stimulation (no tv, reading or computer). She feels very disconnected from everything.

I spilled a quart container of soup last night, all over the inside of the fridge. What a mess! The good thing was I also cleaned the screen to the fridge compressor which was totally covered in cat hair. Imagine that.

Sending our good wishes for the new year to everyone in LL and thanking you for yours. We surely do appreciate being a part of this community. :-D

What a nice thing for Zener to say. I think "more petting and less worrying" is my new mantra, too. I have been worrying about everything lately so I need to take Zener's advice.

I hope Zener starts to feel much better today. And Anne, you can do it--you can make it through one more day!!

Happy New Year and thank you Anne and Liz for all your support.

Zener, what's so interesting way up there? Come on down, please.

I love Zener's philosophy!

Anne, don't worry, you aren't missing a thing. We have stopped the world for you. Life resumes tomorrow when you get back online.

Cat hair? Where did that come from?

Have a great new year?

Now that is one great New Year's resolution! I think at least one of my kitties is trying to tell me the same thing: last night one of my feral-turned-semi-feral-apparently-now-turned-housecat's would not stop rubbing on me, headbutting me, and just generally loving up on me and wanting me to pet & cuddle him for about 20 minutes. I have had this cat 8 years and he has never done this! It was very cool.

Happy New Year!

Re: 1/1 Zener AMPS 383;+1 394 A Trak

we use cosequin for punkin - of course between the cosequin, chinese herbs and acupuncture i have no idea which thing is making him leap onto tables, so i keep doing all 3. the cosequin is available from petco if you have one nearby. it's like the starting level that then progresses to dausequin and adequan, i believe.

what new meter did you get?

and imagine that. cat hair on your floor. :o

Re: 1/1 Zener AMPS 383;+1 394 A Trak

I love your new years resolution - it has now become mine too :-D . Such a good one. These kitties are so smart...

Nice day yesterday for Zener - such a pretty shade of blue. maybe you can repeat that today?

     on the screen covered with cat fur. yesterday I washed all the fleece - my dryer int catcher had to be cleaned four times: filled with cat fur. You gotta love it.

Have a great day! I bet Anne can't wait to be reconnected. :-D

Re: 1/1 Zener AMPS 383;+1 394 A Trak

Hi Liz and Happy New Year! I love what Zener told you, "more petting and less worrying." Zener, you are a very wise kitty, and I hope you soon start feeling better. Maggie says she would love to come over and have a picnic with Zener one of these days. Which meter will you be switiching to once starting? I also should consider it as it looks like Mags isn't close to you know what. Hugs to you and Anne, and scritches to Zener and Tillie.

Zener was so-so today but has perked up big time tonight. After his poke, he immediately went outside for a picnic. Usually, he has at least the appetizer on his footstool. Maybe he was anxious to get away from the footstool since we are testing with both meters when possible. We are switching from the Alpha Trak to the Relion Mini (or Arkway, same thing apparently). Anne ordered 4 boxes of strips of Arkway from ADW and got a 5th one free. Also ordered two boxes with an Arkway meter. And we have a Relion Mini backup. Jeesh.

For the upper 300s ( ), the two meters are about the same. Hopefully we get will lower numbers to compare as well. Paws crossed.

Ann: Zener is a wise kitty. He has always had such a positive attitude throughout his whole life. It's even more apparent now with all the poking and everything. What a guy!

Michelle: The funny thing is Zener has very fine fur. His belly was almost bare as a baby. Tillie, the civie, has that thick Manx coat. But all the hair on the screen was Zener black.

Julie: We don't think he'll accept the Cosequin in his food. He is picky on a good day and lately has been really tough. I often envy punkin's enthusiasm for fuds. :-D

Desi: That is WAY cool about your kitty turning into a housecat.

Linda: The world HAS stopped - Tillie has been on Anne's lap multiple times. We always say the world stops when you have a kitty on your lap.

Georgia: Thank you for your support too!

We missed the mouse drop at midnight last night but Zener says it was spectacular!

As his name implies, Zener is the ZEN man! Wise & wonderful more pets less worry, the new 2012 mantra!!
He is actually doing nicely, & had some nice blues yesterday..
We use Dasuquin, which is the next step from cosequin--Both are chondritin & natural healing ingredients..
Dasuquin has a natural ingredient that protects them from urinary problems..avocado & something else.
I think it has helped a lot.
May the wise Zen-er come down tomorrow & you have a happy start to the New Year-
Husg & Lub from us!!

well liz, the appetite comes from the growth hormones that the tumor puts out - he wasn't always so fud-oriented! so in that sense, don't be too envious of punkin's appetite! it's about the only plus i can see from this whole thing - well the appetite and the fact that the acro kept punkin alive when the vet was screwing up with his dosing at the beginning! :-D

it says on the bottle that the cosequin is chicken and something flavored. but if zener has delicate taste buds (that's how we refer to my youngest daughter's pickiness) ;-) he might still be able to taste it. he probably is on the look-out for you to be cootifying his fuds! i bet you've tried to do that before.

The ZEN man - I like it! We pronounce his name ZEE-ner, as in Zener Weiner. That's what Anne's 10 year old nephew said when we realized that Zener was a boy and not a girl.
Thanks for stopping by, Lisa and Roni.
Liz

What a great attitude to start the new year! Let's see if you stick with the less worry part! Come on down Zener.

Hope you like the new meter. What kind did you switch to? We switched from contour to relion a few months ago and have saved a ton on strips.

Good luck on the adequan. We use it on Charlie and it has been wonderful. I've heard kitties have good results as well.

Happy New Year Anne, Liz, Zener & Tillie!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Somehow, i think your resolution is much more inspiring than mine...

Sorry to hear about your spilled soup, but what a great chance for some deep cleaning!! I dropped an unopened can of Coke from 6 feet up about 2 weeks ago(NOT recommended) and I was amazed at the stuff I found when trying to clean that up!!!!

Great Resolution!!! And great to hear Mr. Z is perking up a bit this evening. Try not to drive yourself nuts switching meters. I Hope Anne's holding up on her last night in cyber-isolation!

I love Zener's resolution, and am definitely going to add that to my growing list of resolutions for this year!

We're glad to have been able to help by describing Mario's experience with adequan. It's always worth exploring every avenue when it comes to making our kitties feel and be the best they can!

We switched from the One Touch Ultra Mini to the Relion Confirm several months ago...can't believe what a price differece there is! BTW, if you join up with eBatesl.com, you can shop through them with ADW and get additional cash back! Thank you to Patty & Champ for doing the math for us...the "Buy 4/Get 1 free" plus the "buy 100/get a free meter" plus one box of syringes plus shopping through eBates.com maximizes your savings  !

Happy New Year Anne, Liz, Zener, and Tillie

Glad Zener is feeling like his picnics and making new year's resolutions. Hope you like using the new meter....definitely will like the savings!

Hope you all had a great day even with Anne having to be media-deprived. Thinking of her and sending healing vines.

Wishing you all a happy, healthy 2012.
