Re: 1/1 Tiki - PMPS 157

Tiki has been poopie all day. He had a loose stool this afternoon and has been quiet and withdrawn all day. He has been eating though. Thought it might have been due to a change in his food, although I've done that before with no major side effects. I switched him from FF to a Friskies (still low carb though) for this morning's feeding only and by 1p he had diarrhea. So I tossed that out (just in case) and gave him another FF which he ate fully.

And his numbers were all over the place today. Wonder if that's what simply has him feeling like crud.

Re: 1/1 Tiki - PMPS 157

There are a couple of possibilities. As you said, Tiki may be feeling crummy because his numbers are up and down. On the other hand, his numbers may be going up and down because he's feeling crummy. He may have gone lower than what you were able to catch on a spot check last night and, as a result, he had a small bounce and is recovering nicely.

For some cats, a change in food can throw their GI system off. Friskies is not gluten free. The pate varieties of FF are gluten free. Gabby can be sensitive to gluten and it gives her loose poop. If you have any probiotic, like FortiFlora, it's a good means of addressing the poop problems.

Yeah I was thinking about the gluten thing as soon as the loose stool occurred. Was trying to save some money (though surely not enough to break the bank) and give him some variety but nevermind, we shall stick to the FF in the future.

Just tested him again and he seems to be coming around and not so grumpy. Eating his treats and his dinner like usual. We are headed back to DC Tuesday morning, so another long car ride is ahead. I am already home sick.

I hate the end of vacations....
