Ozy's appetite isn't as good as I would like and certainly not what it usually is. He used to be so ravenous it was heartbreaking but this is a little further in the other direction than I would like. He had to be encouraged to eat his breakfast. I held the food dish up for him.

I don't think he feels as great as we all do; that is, his lower numbers are great to see but he isn't feeling great. I buped him. We shall see how he is in a while.

It was harder getting up in the night last night. Guess I was tired.

Ozy just got in my lap...that makes me happy. He doesn't like typing so I will stop now.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160

Donaleen, I hope the new year brings great things for you and Ozy. Enjoy your lap time with Ozy.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160

Awww, how nice of him to cuddle onto your lap, I love kitty snuggles :-D Sending appy vines to Ozy, I hope he starts to feel better soon.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160

Donaleen, sending appy vines to Ozy. I know how much one can be affected when their baby is not feeling well. Maybe he just needs to adjust to not having so much sugar in his system. Kinda like detox. Doesn't feel good while you're going through it but you're so much better for it. Come on Ozy, let's keep the blue/green trend going.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160

Happy New Year Donaleen-
Adding my appy vines to Ozy. My Cleo is least hungry when she is in blue, not sure why. Higher numbers make her so much less picky about her food.

Enjoy your kitty snuggles!

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160

As a kitty becomes better regulated, their appetite decreases. This is because the insulin is helping the glucose get into the cells where it's providing more nutrition and energy vs. floating around in the blood. So, it's no surprise that Ozy isn't eating as much given the pretty blue cycles.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160

Thanks for the encouragement Carla, Rachel, Laura, Jane and Sienne....

I asked him if he wanted a treat and he leaped out of my lap and was eager to eat.... I think the bupe kicked in and I am guessing he has a bit of pancratitis this am that the bupe relieved. Bless bupe.

I predict he is starting one of his long slow bounces.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260

And now we are at 260... I predict 300 by +3

Is it time to start R? Not pushing, just asking.

Remember, his bounces are lonnnnng

Going to the grocery store unless I am told to wait.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260

Let me see if I can get Sandy. Personally, I think it would be a good idea but let's see. Can you test again at +3 and see if he's still on the rise?

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171

Yes, I plan to test again at +3

Update: And he fooled me... down to 171 @+3... that's a BIG drop on one hour.

This, after John successfully loaded one drop. These syringes are amazing.

And very playful and alert and engaged. He was actually MOVING when he played. He even jumped a little. Very nice.

We are now liking the Levemir.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171

so glad this is working out well for him.

It does look like he's clearing bounces overnight now - so we may not see those long, super huge bounces he was showing us on the Lantus. Might be different insulins but it could also be that he's spending all these hours in better numbers and his body is really getting used to them.

I wonder if this is onset or if this is the little bounce clearing. i guess we're not going to get a chance to try the R on this cycle - but great job, John!!! you're ready when you need it.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171

Perfecto!!!! When you don't yet have a lot of data, it pays off to do another test. This is really great. Good job, John! I hope Ozy feels better today.

I think it is also the presence of the R in the frig.....like a dose increase threat on the table

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171

Donaleen -

When Hershey started seeing better numbers, his appetite decreased significantly, too. Here's hoping Ozy keeps just enough appetite to keep a healthy weight!

Isn't it heartwarming to see them playful and engaged! :-D

i know you enjoyed your cuddle time with him this morning; of course, he doesn't like you typing when he's on your lap - he's wants ALL the attention!!

Have a wonderful 2014 -

Libby (& Hershey, too!)

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171,+4-258

A day of wild swings... now up to 258, so down 90 and now up 90. And, yes, I believe both tests.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171

well well well, another day of sunshine and blue skies in Ozyland !!!
Indeed a happy start to the New Year! drinking24
So very wonderful to see

It's looking to me like there is a pretty clear link between Ozys pain and his BGs.

He did fool you (and will likely do it again in the future)

Take care that you don't get depleted. Grab some rest whenever you can - it will pay huge dividends in the future.

Although you'd never guess by looking at BKs ss, I believe that minimal use of R, both in frequency and amount is prudent. It is a great weapon however it is a double edged sword.

Sometimes the greatest insights are gained by sitting on ones hands and seeing how things play out.
(I know I know - easier said than done. . . )

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171,+4-258 see-saw

Happy New Year, Donaleen, John and Ozy!
I am happy to read that Ozy is feeling good and playful.
I know how worrying when their appetite is poor, so am sending lots of good appy and quick pancreatitis recovery vines.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171,+4-258 see-saw

So nice of you to stop by. He is feeling GREAT now. We had a very wild play session (wild for him). We were playing with da Bird, him lying down on his back and swinging at it, very fast catches, and HE EVEN GOT UP and chased it a little. This is huge for Ozy.

There is a difference of night and day with him between first thing this morning and a few hours later. HIs eyes are alert, he is interested in what is going on. He sat by the back door and watched the birds/squirrels. He bit me lovingly but too hard and when I cried out he looked at me like "Oh, sorry, didn't mean to hurt". And he is still like that at +4.5

And I have been studying BK's SS and making notes. That was my NY's eve, along with videos John picked. Too tired today, though.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171,+4-258 see-saw

Hmmm.....I've seen days like this with Gracie and can't quite figure it out. Some days I just shrug and, as Sandy said, wait it out.

It's fab that he's playing and feeling better.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171,+4-258,+5-265

Thanks... we did shoot 6.5. John had some weird problem with Google Docs.

Do you want an earlier test than +8?

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171,+4-258,+5-265

just saw his +6/188. i've noticed that sometimes bounces wobble around. just guessing, but i'm thinking that's what we're seeing today.

great to have him bounce into 200's instead of 3-400's, of course.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171,+4-258,+5-265

How wonderful that Ozy is feeling great and playing today! :-D :-D Neko will often do the drift up and a later onset. I agree with the others, it's good to wait it out and see where he goes with this.

My excuse to get an iPad was that I can still do computer stuff with a cat on my lap. ;-)

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171,+5-265,+8-157

Thanks Sandy, Julie and Wendy. NIce to have you here.

I gave Ozy more bupe, 8 hours after the last dose. I think he is having a pancreatitis issue today. Something is certainly hurting. Still, as Julie said, his numbers haven't been so bad.

Next test PMPS unless requested sooner.

Here is a pretty interesting explanation of how glucometers work and also a new type that would use light and not pin pricks to measure the glucose.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171,+5-265,PMPS-96

Well.... and down he came to green.

I buped him again at AM+8 because he was feeling bad again. And sure enough, at +9.5, he perked up. His appetite was back, 5 P's were present again. And he is hungry tonight.

I think I want to change his bupe time so he is feeling good at pre shot time so his appetite is good.

Time to go shoot now....

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171,+5-265,PMPS-96

Wow!!!! This is great to see. Now it will be interesting if he comes down after PMPS or if the 96 was his nadir.

Interesting info about MIT and the glucometers.

Re: 1/1 Ozy AMPS-160,+2-260,+3-171,+5-265,PMPS-96

if you think he's having some pancreatitis issues, it might be a good idea. It's good you're making connections about what helps him.

very interesting article. i never thought about how they worked. wouldn't that be awesome if our kitties could get a tattoo on their ear and they could be checked through that?! We'd get a lot more people to be hometesting.

wonderful pmps for the little guy tonight!

Thanks Julie and Sandy.

I must say, the 62 surprised me. This is why I test him so much. He surprises me. Guess I will be staying up now.
