Happy New Year 2012 LL!!

I hope everyone had a safe and fun night last night.DH and I barely could stay up to midnight(watching TV in our PJ's) LOL And of course now, this morning I am totally exhausted. Im baffled how just a few years ago I would party at the clubs until 4am on NYE Now that Ive had 2 kids and hit 30 my NYE party days feel like a lifetime ago. ;-)

Garland is fabulous. Still up to her old tricks. I think she has a playbook stashed around the house on how to steal human food This morning we are starting off green!! yay! Although based on how her numbers usually have been going, i expect they will rise throughout the day.

So funny thing about Connick.... remember how I told you guys I had a gut feeling he didnt feel well last week? Well the few days after that, I started noticing he was throwing up a little. I started tracking it, and it happened after everytime he ate. So that made me really nervous. He acted hungry, and would eat when I put it out, but then would vomit about an hour later. I googled it, and someone (on a blog) mentioned trying wet food if a dry food kitty is throwing up. To see if its a blockage, or if its the food, etc...Connick is fed a mix of wet/dry. He munches on wet here and there, but then I give him dry for the most part. (he doesnt really like wet) So I gave him a can of tuna. He scarfed the whole thing down in less than 5 minutes. No vomit... hmm... so then I gave him a can of gravy lovers later on after that... same thing. No vomit. So now he hasnt had any of the dry food in 3 days, and no vomit. Thinking back, this started with a new bag I had bought. So I guess the dry bag was bad?? I dont know, I didnt even know new dry food could be bad. But Im happy to say, Connick is back to himself 100% Yay!! Although, he seems annoyed about the fact I took away the dry food. Today Im gonna go buy a different bag. Maybe I should change brands? He usually gets the Purina One Sensitive Systems (he has always had a hairball/vomit issue randomly)

Anyways, thats pretty much whats been going on here with us :smile: Happy New 2012! I have my computer back, SS is fully updated

Beautiful start for Garland! I hope it leads to a nice green year.

Maybe it would be a good time to switch Connick to wet. It's an overall better kitty food and might simplify things for you if they ate the same foods.

I'd feed Connick canned from now on!! the dry isn't all that good for him, anyway.

Dry food can spoil. It's possible you had a bad bag. I'd take a look at Dr. Lisa's site regarding the use of dry food.

Ive been trying to switch Connick to a full wet diet since Garland was diagnosed almost a year ago. He just really doesnt like it very much. Ive tried all brands, all flavors and he usually will just turn his nose up at it. And hes a pretty big cat, I know he needs to eat. Usually I will only give him the dry once during the day, and a couple times at night. We have to play the put down, pick up game with it so Garland doesnt sneak any. So he doesnt eat much of it at one time. But I have noticed he hasnt eaten as much since only giving wet the last few days. Last night he took 2 bites of some FF grilled Turkey and hasnt had a bite since. :cry:

We had a couple of bags of dry food over the years that I can only assume were bad. When this happened, Saima was interested in eating but absolutely would not touch the new food for a day or more. I would go get her a new bag of the same stuff and it would be fine. With one brand it happened a couple of times so we switched brands. Kind of made me nervous about what was in it, but she was the same as Connick... she would always rather not eat than eat wet food. If we mixed dry with it, there were some kinds of wet she would eat eventually, but it was always like pulling teeth.

It's so nice to see Garland in such good numbers!! I hope the new year brings you nothing but good numbers for her!!!

I wish I could switch every single one of mine, even the ferals, to wet food. I am seriously looking into homemade food for everyone and cost comparing that with the cost of dry. I just went to the Winn-Dixie this afternoon and bought 2 bags of 9 Lives Plus Care and 2 bags of litter and it was over $40! Oh, and one can of house brand Parmesan cheese.

Mine don't have any issues w/the 9 Lives dry Plus Care but any time I have ever fed 9 Lives canned they have always thrown up.

yea, hes not a big fan of the wet. He will eat a little, but not much. Hes only had about a can today I think... But I know he grazes on Garlands food plate I keep full, so he may have had more than I thought. Garland on the other hand, always LOVED wet food. So when she was diagnosed, all I had to do was stop giving her the dry. She thought she died and had gone to heaven with me giving her wet food all the time LOL

Just two years ago, we were out all hours on NYE with friends. FD changed that for us! But we really enjoyed last night at home with the kitters, the spa, an adult beverage, and the starry starry sky! Simple Pleasures.

So glad Garland is doing so incredible. This warms my heart more than you will ever know. Glad you discovered the mystery of Connick's pukus. Too bad you can't just find a canned food he'd really like. Actually, we always mixed
them up and fed lots of different ones to keep variety.

LOL Its funny how much Ive changed in the last 4 years. I actually love staying home with DH, my kitties and my kids. Last night was fun. We watched movies, drank champagne, listened to the fireworks my neighbors (illegally) set off. (almost fell asleep before midnight :smile: ) 5 Years ago I would have been wishing I was out at the bars. I love my life now. Wouldnt change it for the world. I totally agree with you, simple pleasures. It sounds like your NYE was a good night too! Maybe even better with that spa. ;-) I love hot tubs. So relaxing. I keep telling DH once we move into our "forever" home, I would like to find a way to get one. Have a fabulous night Marjorie!!

Ive been reading about Tawny! So happy shes doing so much better!!!!! yay!!!! You are so wonderful the way you take care of all your kitties :smile:

For me the canned food is always so expensive. I go buy 2 boxes of Garlands FF food and 2 big boxes of litter (I have 2 litter boxes) and its already over 50 dollars!!! And thats at Walmart.

Parmesan cheese? For the cats?

Yay on the new computer!

I had to buy a new battery bc my other one died on me. And so I finally saved up and went to the apple store, they replaced it, then we found out my charger had some sort of short in it. The guy was sooo nice. He gave me one for free since I had an old model and they dont make them anymore. Im so happy to have my laptop working again. It was torture without it . Happy New years!!
