Happy New Years, all!

Made breakfast for the kitties (which is to say, divided up a can of food and added extra water for all). Gus ran up happy to munch away. Adele stayed under the bed, but lapped up the food when I put it down there. (Adele is sick and has been hanging out under the bed and/or in the closet for a few days. Started her in on some fluconazole yesterday and am hoping to see some improvement in the next day or two.) But Dusty? Dusty just stayed in bed relaxing. She was full of purrs this morning and was fine with my testing and her insulin. Just not at all interested in getting down for breakfast. Here's hoping that she had just enjoyed some food earlier and was full, because I'm not at all thrilled with her on-again-off-again interest in food.

Nice bit of surfing into blue numbers!

Lantus is a bit more forgiving regarding food. As long as Dusty starts eating before or around onset (which looks like it's aroung +1 - +2), it's fine. Do you have any freeze dried chicken or other flavor treats? If Dusty likes them, it's often a helpful enticement to eat.

Given the cycles yesterday, you might want to get an early test or two to see where Dusty's levels are going.

Re: 1/1, Dusty, AMPS 199, +2 155

Alas, not much. I gave her some via syringe (b/c I wanted to get some miralax in her with her breakfast) and she ate a few bites on her own. But mostly uninterested. At the moment she's snoozing (and, on such a cold and rainy day, I don't blame her!). I'll put her food in front of her in a few minutes and, if she doesn't want any, may just give her the rest of the slurry I prepared this morning.

I'm comforted by the fact that her numbers seem pretty good and she keeps testing negative for ketones. She also doesn't seem to be in pain (as much as I can tell from her, at least). I really think it's probably tummy distress. I have some pepcid...might try some of that with a pill pocket, to see if it helps at all.

Sienne - just ran out of her favorite freeze dried turkey treats yesterday. I'm grabbing more of them tomorrow when the pet store opens back up. Those bits of turkey are like crack to her.

Re: 1/1, Dusty, AMPS 199, +2 155, +5 119, +8 81

Huh. Wonder if that's a bump or a slide. I'm off to Les Miz and then dinner with some friends, so I'm going to hope it's more a bump than a slide. I'll leave food out, but who knows if she'll actually eat it.

Holy smokes. I hope that Dusty didn't dip too much from her +8 to her PMBG. Needless to say she got some syringe feeding once I got back and we'll be talking to the vet tomorrow about why she might not be keen on eating. I'll also test her again in 45 minutes to an hour to see if she's finished sliding or still has a ways down to go.
