09/30 | Mochi is in remission

Mochi has not had any insulin since Sept. 5th and his numbers have been under 150 the whole time and under 100 for the past 14 days (basically since his infected teeth were extracted). I'm calling it: he's officially OTJ!

Congrats!!! Wonderful news! I hope Mochi enjoys many many years at the falls. Remember, once diabetic, always diabetic and now he is diet controlled. So , continue LC food, get regular teeth cleanings and avoid steroid medications if at all possible.

Yup, that's what remission looks like. Too bad you didn't share that you were doing a trial so we could cheer you on! Not to mention the party we usually have!

Remember to test at minimum once a month (I'd recommend once a week, so you can catch any backsliding sooner). If you get a number over 120, feed and retest in about 3 hours to see if he brings himself down. As Bobbie said, don't get complacent and allow contraband into his diet - I made that mistake with Cinco.
