hi. my cat was doing great ..surfing blues and greens for weeks and i almost thought he would soon be OTJ.
now, the numbers are rising again back in the high 100's and low 200's (up from great run of double digits)
i have increased the insulin but wonder what happened? he was on a small dose (.25) when in double digits but he has taken a turn back up. can this be explained? thanks.

I think part of the problem is the way you're dosing. I'd really encourage you to follow the Tight Regulation Protocol. You had been giving a different dose in the AM and PM recently and that tends to result in wonky numbers. Skipping shots, reducing the dose by 0.5u also may have had a negative impact on numbers. Also, I wouldn't hold a dose that's not giving you the results you want for more than 3 days. Of course, you need to get PM tests. You are losing half of your data due to not getting tests during the PM cycle.

i think except for one night..the dosing has been consistent. i let him creep up a bit to get an idea of what was going on. yes, i should have increased as the #'s went up but i am wondering why the numbers went up at all. if he was in the green, what made him suddenly hover in the low blues and now go to higher blues. why didn't he stay consistent in the green. the dose was consistent, so was the food (although i did start to go from wellness and ff to all ff --no gravy of course) wonder if that change had an impact.

Food changes can effect numbers in some cats. Is there the possibility of any medical issues, like Ruben needing a dental? Any inflammation may cause numbers to rise. Sometimes, you have to bring the dose up in order for it to come back down. It sounds like you're looking for logic here. There may not be any! It's hard to know if Ruben's pancreas is tired and just needs a bit more support, if there's more stress, if it's the moon, who knows? We're dealing with cats and they like to be unpredictable!
