J.D. ate his 1st breffis and is taking a bath.

I have all the patio furniture and plants in the livingroom (it's a small condo). My neighbor has put tape on their sliding glass window. Am I supposed to do that?

I have to leave for work a little earlier than normal today, as I will be the only one there and responsible for everyone. I just checked WalMart's hours and they open at 7:00am. Maybe, I'll leave even earlier to go buy a lantern. I'll need something to measure doses and check bgs if the electricity goes out.

I went to 4 stores on the way to work (first to WalMart hoping to get a lantern and some batteries, of course they were sold out of lanterns, and D batteries) and every store was sold out of D batteries. I have a lantern at home that takes D batteries. I put out the word to everyone at work, and some one brought me a present of some candles and a flashlight and some D batteries :-D :-D I am so happy :-D :-D

I heard from someone that they may issue a state of emergency and close the roads, and I said if they do that than the police can pick up the person limping on the side of the road in a hurricane trying to get home to her diabetic cat.

Work has been a little crazy.

Dyana: sending you and your kitty family prayers for safety. I"m glad your generous coworkers gave you the D batteries for your lantern. Please stay safe. We're thinking of you.

Prayers up for your safety and for J. D. this is going to be stressful all the way around.

Yes to taping your windows ...if they should break it will help to keep the shards of glass from becoming deadly. I've seen recommendations to tape and close drapes and tape the drapes closed.

Bathtube full of water, sink with water etc. With no power there is no way to pump water to your location. And you will need water to flush the toilets.
 
Any kind of tape? I think all I have is packing tape. But I'll use that. I was just hesitant, because I'll probably have to use a razor blade to get the glue off later. Bath tub is filling now with water. I have arranged a ride to work tomorrow, because it was scary (for me) driving home.
 
masking tape works too. WD40 will get the tape and adhesive off easily afterwards.

Winds just started kicking up here in Baltimore. We are just east of the worst of it, in the 39-58 mph winds zone.
 
Oh Dyana, you have to work tomorrow???? How can that be if the roads are closed?
For some reason I thought you were a little further west. Im glad I checked your condo today!
I will send lots of vines for your safety and as little stress as possible.

I read something about the bathtub full of water...most tubs will slowly drain on their own. Something about putting plastic (maybe garbage bags) in the tub to line it can help.
