Just my luck you guys….Lola’s brother has been sick for a couple days now with diarrhea and now she’s got it as well!!! I’ve been cleaning dookie butts non stop! Earliest Vet appointment was till tomorrow so hopefully we will have some answers then but I have no idea what it could be!!!! They’re both still eating/drinking and using the litter but they just have the runs anyone have any tips or ideas what could be happening?

Ohmygoodness sounds like you have your hands full. I'm sorry I don't have any ideas why it's happening but as long as they're eating and drinking and behaving like themselves that's good.
Do you have any pure pumpkin on hand. You can try and feed some with the next meal and see if it helps to stop the diarrhea. Lola can also have some.

Ohmygoodness sounds like you have your hands full. I'm sorry I don't have any ideas why it's happening but as long as they're eating and drinking and behaving like themselves that's good.

Thank you so much!!! I’m going to get some after work and give them both some!! trying to help them last till tomorrows vet appointment ahhh im cleaning up after so many accidents lol

Oh no I'm so sorry Adriana! it sounds like you have your hands full.

Have you tried S boulardii? This is what was recommended to me during Moonie's pancreatitis flare-up, and it helped her a LOT.

I’ll look into this as well!! Thank you Connie for the recommendation Anything will help at this point lol I’m tired of chasing cats to clean butts

Just wanted to give small update! Vet visit today went well! Vet provided me with FortiFlora Synbiotic to give both Lola and her brother (1 pack a day). Also gave me a 7 day supply of Metronidazole (100mg tablet) for the both of them! He thinks they either have some kind of viral infection or got Giardia somehow. He sent me home with a fecal test kit and I was already able to get a sample so I’m dropping that off tomorrow to be sent for testing

I think Lola’s brother has the worse of it but thankfully they’re both still acting normal and eating/drinking normally!! I have a lot of outside cats that we feed and I’m thinking somehow one of them contaminated my cats I’m not too sure but I guess I will know for sure once I get the fecal results back

I checked Lola’s sugar level yesterday to see if the stress of having diarrhea/upset tummy raised her glucose but thankfully she was normal range I hope with the meds she’s taking nothing spikes but I might check her glucose at least once a day to make sure she’s ok Wish me luck you guys…..been cleaning so much diarrhea UGH!!!!!

(Oh also still giving them both 1tsp pumpkin daily, vet advised I could continue that as well, it’s definitely helping the stool start to firm up.)

I think it is a good idea to check her BG levels more often - just in case

So so glad it went well at the vet and that they are eating and drinking normally

I hope they recover soon and well. I do have some memories and experience with Metronidazole... ...

Are they both up to date with their deworming medication?

They are up to date with their flea/deworming meds! So far so good with the Metronidazole, I got the pill version which I think helps with the nasty taste for them. Thankfully they’re both pretty decent at taking pills so I’m going to keep my fingers crossed it stays that way!! Also no diarrhea so far today so I think things are moving along good!!! thank you

Then great to hear about the deworming meds! I also had very good results with Metronidazole, when having an issue with them (similar to yours). I hope it continues this way soon it might be much much better.
