Hi Anna - sorry to see Bailey is bouncing so high. He's bouncing for two reasons. The first is that it's been a while (over a month) since he last saw greens so his liver is panicking. Not much you can do about that - the more time he spends in green the less his liver will panic. He is looking a lot better on this dose with all that green.

The second reason he's bouncing is that he's dropping so fast at the beginning of the cycle. For example, the morning of the 23rd he went from 340 to 122 in three hours. That's a drop of almost 220 in three hours or over 70 points and hour. Anything over 50 points/hour can trigger a bounce. For kitties that are prone to fast drops, you can try to ease the drop with food manipulation. How are you feeding him now? Maybe split his breakfast and dinner into portions and feed at preshot, then some more at +2? It seems Bailey really likes to do his diving between +2 and +3. If you give him a bit more food at +2, then it can help offset the insulin when it onsets. The alternative if you see him diving at +2 is to maybe give him a food that's just a bit higher carbs.

thanks wendy that's REALLY helpful.yeah he drops so fast usually around + 3 hours. today for example he bounced to 733 to 380 in just 3 hours.thats nearly half!!!

baileys a grazer with his food.always has been so it may be that I leave medium carb down at +2/3 instead of his usually chicken or turkey with felini complete on.

crazy how the last 3 blue days has been near enough the same pattern to the absolute number! this sugar quest is tough  THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN ALL OFF THIS IS MY BOY IS HAPPY,PLAYFUL,AND ENJOYING HIS LITTLE LIFE !!massive progress from few months back dancing_cat

are you remembering the trick to give him 2 teaspoons of low carb food when he steps into green numbers (less than 130AT)? that can help him surf and stay in good numbers longer.

glad to hear he's still feeling good!

Hi Ana,

Not much dose advice from me, but I can commiserate about bouncing! Tigger bounced & bounced & bounced until about a month ago he started leveling off - and some cats bounce more than others.

Wendy's right - the more time Bailey spends in green & blue, ultimately, the less he'll bounce. He'll get more comfortable with the lower ranges. Right now he's used to those yucky higher numbers.

It helped me to feed Tigger multiple meals as Wendy suggested, but I feed at PS, +1, +2, & +3. Auto feeders can help with that. Also, it can take several weeks before you see an effect (again, ECID), so don't give up after just a few days if you don't see a difference. Wendy's Neko's been a Bounce Gold Medalist, so she's got alot of experience.

Tigger started bouncing again & today Julie gave me the same advice - 2 teaspoons of low carb food when he steps into green numbers, which I'll be trying, too.

I can see you're working really hard on this, Bailey's come a long way since you started and I know he's the better for it. Good luck & keep up the good work!
