Yesterday

J.D. ate his breakfast and is sitting in his favorite place. I will leave out extra frozen food again today, since I don't know where he's headed.

I didn't get any midnight tests last night. I slept :-D

Hmm, wonder where he went today? I guess I'll know in a while, if he bounces.

Yay for a 4 day weekend! and to the excitement of a road trip to Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Reunion this weekend.
Really, I'm a little nervous. I thought this would be such an adventure, since I rarely have adventures  , but know it's almost the day to leave, and am a little chicken. Trying to decide when to hit the road, and when J.D. will eat and won't eat (like when we're in the car). Hopefully he'll decide to eat sometime once we reach Deb's house. No worrying!!!dang it!!!

Not to bad for JD today, and good for you getting some needed sleep last night! I really enjoy my sleep and am so happy now that I don't have to get up at 1:00 a.m. to test Spot! BUT, Spot doesn't quite realize that and seems to think that I MUST be woken up at least once during the night, doesn't matter when, just matters that he does it, lol

Dyana, everything will be a-ok. I know road trips alone (well, with two kitties) are a bit skerry, but once you are on the highway, you will do good. If you need, call me when you get off of the turnpike and closer to Pittsburgh and I'll either talk you through it or come and get you somewhere. I'll be just a phone call away! Just think of the good time you will have and maybe you won't be quite the nervous nelly!! I have some freezed dried chicken livers that my civvie finds just absolutely irresistable, we can dust JD's food with that and I'm sure he'll eat something. Don't forget to maybe bring something of theirs and maybe an dirty shirt of yours so that you can put it somewhere in your living quarters (ahahahaha, sounds like you're coming to a mansion, but really, it's the lower level of the house, the spare bedroom and family room area will be all yours!). I cleaned the carpets and bedding so my cat's odors won't be to prevelant, so JD and Ginger should be ok. Out of couriousity, how does JD act when he is traveling?

The 337 was a while ago, but I think it means a good nights sleep.
Deb to answer your question: J.D. came across the country with me back in 1995, and did okay after a day or so. He used to go to work with me every day for a year after he was diagnosed. He is afraid of people and stays under my desk at work. In the car, he often crys and sometimes pants, and about half the time pees in his carrier on the way to work (a 20 minute ride) and is happy as a clam and you can tell he knows he's going home on the way back (no more crying). I am planning to put a sheet over the rental car's back seat to protect it from hair (they let hair fly when they're stressed) and may be able to partially cover the soft carrier, too if that helps. I will be bringing my hard carriers (for kitty carrying) in the trunk, and if I have to, I may put J.D. up front in the passenger seat in his normal hard carrier where I can watch him and he may feel more comfortable. I'm sure everything will be fine. Normally, my cats are not picky eaters. It's just that when J.D. is at my Dad's house in CA, he only eats in the middle of the night, which means he doesn't eat for more than 12 hours during the day. I have a variety of yummy foods to bring along. We'll be okay.

and if deb gets her big dog cage, you can bring the cats here to keep an eye on them and not have to rush home. have a safe trip and cannot wait to meet you.
wheezer never eats or Pees when traveling. unless I stop to feed him and to test and shoot. but he is a funny little guy.
so, you leaving tomorrow
