08/07 Rhubarb (update)

Rhubarb had been doing wonderful despite all the stresses, the passing of Nika, getting into dry food repeatedly. I've been quite impressed with her progress.

Then today she suddenly started drooling after a nap, had troubles moving her jaw. Hadnt ate her afternoon meal. We checked in her mouth and couldn't see anything stuck there. DH called vet, and vet determined not an immediate emergency, but bring her in tomorrow morning. I checked her sugars during phone call-85. Higher than she has been in ages, but we did jusy spend some time fighting to see her mouth. We went outside with her after and she ran to chew grass, which seemed to fix whatever was wrong. I put down a diff flavour food and she did eat some. Couple hours later and she starts drooling again, but still grooms, plays. Checked her sugar while napping, 95.

I'm worried. It was only a few months ago that we brought Nika in, to never come home. I of course am worrying about the worst. My fears were true with Nika.

On the insulin side of things, if her sugars go back up to high blues, yellows, at what point do I add a tiny bit of insulin? I'd prefer to keep her in remission of course!

I'd hold off on any insulin until you see the vet and see what's going on. I hope it's something easy to treat. Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

She is back to being unable to move jaw right this morning. didn't eat overnight, ambg 77. Waiting for office to open

She usually eats grass when out, but this was more frantic last night. When it seemed her symtpoms were gone after, I really thought that it must have just been something lodged somewhere. she never vomited after, did eat a bit, but then started to drool again later. Nausea would make sense too. She still hasn't vomited though.

Oh I hope they can figure it out quickly and easily...just hate to hear that Rubarb isn't feeling well... I hope it's just a toof. Sending good vetty vines your way!:bighug::bighug:

They couldn't get her in right away so we came back home for a little. She did eat some before we had left, and was demanding food when we got home. I only gave her a tsp this time, just in case they will need to do any procedures. wanted some fluids and calories in her though. Heading out gain in a few min or so.

Rhubarb had 4 teeth removed during her dental, and it seems that she had lost one on her own (unless they missed noting it as a removal last time). Her sugars have been good, and I was happy to see that her BG was normal even on the lab result today.
They said that her teeth were so painful that even under anesthesia, she was chattering her jaw when they poked at the sore teeth. Poor girl hid it so well :( And I'm surprised that her BG didn't raise until that acute day, and even then, not by much.

She is recovering well, still happily stoned, and loving the chicken baby food I picked up for her post dental food.

Good news on Rhubarb. Speedy recovery. My civvie had 3 removed and the only reason I knew something was up is she had a cavity we could see on her annual exam.
