well after the trial - we have a party!
Seriously - regarding testing - you can cut back on testing. Typically test once a week for a month, then every 2 weeks, then every 3 weeks, then once a month, and then when you suspect something may not be right or are just curious.
Vary your testing times as now it won't matter what time and whether he ate or not.
There are many things that can make a cat diabetic, however once a diabetic always a diabetic, your cat is just in remission. Remission can last forever or he can have a relapse for various reasons and may require insulin again.
So, what makes a cat diabetic - generally speaking:
- steroids - injections, pills - not inhaled steroids for asthma
- food - mainly dry food
- infections, illness, dental issues - all of these things could put him in relapse. Once the issue(s) is resolved, cat will probably go into remission again
Hope this helps and can't wait for the party tomorrow!
