So I guess Mom-mom is back on the see-saw again. :YMSIGH: Although she does look good anyway. She actually is up to 7 pounds which is great considering she was only 3 pounds on 3/26 when she was diagnosed. She has come a long way, and still going strong. Even though we have (lately, anyway) had more bad, than good, days.

I just keep the faith in Jesus and pray for remission. Eventually he will hear us, with a little help from my friends too  . ;-)

Have a great day all !!! :-D :-D :-D

Hi Laura! are you testing for ketones? she has alot of HI readings! Have her teeth been checked lately? She may look fine, but she cant be feeling fine with those #s. I would take her to vet if she was mine and have her teeth looked at. Did they ever get that broken tooth out also? if not, that may be her problem and could cause her to be high. Good luck with her and hope her #s come down soon.

Greetings...

I am a newbie myself, and really not well versed enough on all of this to give advice, but thought I would throw this question out there. Maybe one of the more knowledgeable members will be able to chime in/explain. But if Mom-mom ahs gained 4 pounds since diagnosis, is it possible that the amount of insulin given is not as effective as it could be because she has gained weight and perhaps she needs a higher dose to compensate for the weight gain? I thought there was an equation used to determined the appropriate starting dose based on weight. Just wonder if it might not be a good idea to use that formula to see if maybe a temporary dose increase is appropriate to bring her numbers down.

Just a thought I wanted to throw out there in hopes maybe a more experienced member might be able to chime in on.....

laura's on the right track with Mom-Mom's weight. Yes, there is a relationship between the amount a cat eats and the size of the insulin dose, but mom mom lost weight pre-diagnosis and needs to get back to her appropriate weight.

nice to see you, laura. :-D
