Hi, With Tiffy it is like dominos. The doctor said I can do 1/2 of 1/4 of atenonol. It is too small to work, so she is back on 1/4 and is okay, but due to all the antibiotics (3 months constant worth) she has developed a slight pancreatitis. I did some reading. I had her on probiotic, Phillips, It has a small amount of potato starch (carb), so not worried, but the web said try countrylife's and do a 1/4 a day and try taurine (where to get) and some other stuff with an S and Pepcid ac.
Good news she is eating real good, so that is why I say slight case, and Why I say she has it is because her stool is quasi soft and pale beige which a darker color but very little. So I am broke to say the least, but going to see if I can get these things, and I will call vet in am. The biggest thing about pancreatitis is they don't eat. Now I think it is due to the antib, and I gave her a little egg yoke, so maybe breaking that up was hard on her fragile system. She loved it and it didn't spike her, she was lower those days, but who knows. Please look at her ss,. I have updated and hoping to tweak the insulin by next week. I need to give the atenonol one full complete week before tweaking.

I wish I could offer some advice, Theresa, but with all her issues, her issues is more complicated than I have experience with and I wouldn't want to steer you wrong. Looking at the ss, she certainly has been in better numbers the last couple of days. And with all her medications, I do know that regulating the bg levels is complicated and not straight forward numbers and doses.

All I can say is that you are very clearly doing the best you can and treating her with the best care and lots of love. I so hope her issues will settle down and that you can start just dealing with the diabetes.

For pancreatitis, some have found injections of cyanocobalamin are helpful in reducing the inflammation. It is a different form of Vit B-12 than methylcobalamin which is useful for diabetic neuropathy.

Hang in there and remember that we treat the diabetes around the other condition(s).

Since 1/4 is too much and 1/8 is not enough, how about trying for 1/5 as follows.
Add the tablet to an oral syringe that can hold at least 1 cc.
Suck in some water to make 0.5 ccs of solution (aka 0.5 ml).
Shake well to dissolve.
Suck in a little bit of very mushy catfood at a time and shake well until you have an amount that can be divided by 5 using the markings on your syringe.

To give, always shake well so it is mixed.
Squirt out 1/5 of the amount onto a plate, add some very tasty food and let her eat it. Feed any remaining food.

Re: help i need places to get this product

Hi, I just ordered Denosyl SD4 for small cats and dogs, I figured 3/4 a tab for her.
I also ordered Cat Vitamins - Spectrin 16 OZ - Liquid Vitamin & Antioxidant Supplement for Cats - 96 doses
Misc. just google this, it has b-12 in it with lots of other good stuff for this poor animal that is suffereing.
I got taurine 500 mgs, will only admin 1/2 tab a day
I got advanced acido philus, will only admin 1/4 tab a day
I got milk thistle, I don't know what to do with it, but my rough calc, is 3/4's a tab is okay, all the above three are solgar dairy free and sugar free.
The vitamins has citric acid in it, but I did research and there is no sugar in citric acid although it is derived from fruits which contain sugar.
Now, the Denosyl doesn't have sugar, and all hardly any carb if any.

I need to know where to get the product you were speaking about, BJ, Help. I frantic. I can't cut and paste the name because I am writing and can't go back.

Just some notes:
Only make 1 change at a time unless instructed by your vet, so you can see what the change is doing and evaluate if you need to adjust anything.

And it is possible to give too many supplements and make matters worse. You should be able to list each supplement, what it is for, and a feline specific dose. The onlie Merck Veterinary Manual may have some of this information.

Vitanin B-12 comes in a couple of forms. You have to look at the ingredient list to see which one is in a product. Most stuff is the cyano- form, rather than the methyl- form

Milk thistle and Denosyl both help support the liver.

The methylcobalamin has also been suggested to help with pancreatitis. If you are already giving Tiffy this for diabetic neuropathy, it may help with the suspected pancreatitis. Normal dose is 500 mcg (0.5mg) a day.

Be cautious with all those supplements you are giving Tiffy. I know you are only trying to help her, but there is no way to tell if one of those supplements is actually causing any problems. There are simply too many of them, IMHO.

You need a blood test to check the cobalimin levels before you know if there is a deficiency of vitamin B-12 or not. If you are already supplementing with the B-12 vitamins, a blood test will be useless.

Your vet also needs to be aware of this for any type of pancreatitis diagnosis. I know that when Wink was tested for pancreatitis, I told my vet he was getting methylcobalamin injections for the diabetic neuropathy. She actually cancelled a few tests, because the B-12 supplementation would have skewed the test results.

Don't know if we have given you a link to Marje's Pancreatitis Primer before, so here it is.

You need to ask your vet if there are any interactions with the medications he has prescribed and the supplements you are giving. Please, be very, very cautious that you are not doing more harm than good.

Retiffy is killing me

Actually, I think she is just irritated due to all the antibiotics. She played with me all day and ate like a beast. She is also doing well with atenonol. Her Bg is high and it may be due to the gastric problem. Listen pale stool is the gastrointestinal area not functioning well, i.e., liver, and that can happen with all the severe meds. Will call vet, but I put her on a great probiotic, not harmful with meds, Taurine is great for cats, 250 won't hurt her. B12 is water soluble and I bought the sublingual one, so less is absorbed if shallowed.
the other stuff is all liver remedies and fine.
He prescribed hivite which is a multi vitamin, but it had sugar, so I returned it. This other one is the same and no sugar or dairy.
I say she gets better by Tuesday, but I will pass it by him. She is doing too well except for those higher than normal amps and pmps's. I want to do nadir and she will not let me. Her ears are beaten. I say she is in the high 200s.
She is playing more than ever with me, racing around the living room, and playing with my hand under the covers. It is the stool that flipped me out. the better probiotic should help. I have an antiacid. Ranitidine. I will find out if I can give her that with the heart. all other things are fine.

this cat is killing me.

Apply Neosporin ointment with pain relief a few minutes before testing. Wipe off, then test. It'll help the blood bead up and reduce the annoyance of testing.

Be sure to blot thoroughly to reduce scabbing and bruising.
