Hi, I wouldn't have made it this far without this Board. Thanks so much. Tiffy doesn't realize how you people were really cats in a prev life and how you ache to save their lives.
Anyway, Tiffy was doing well. I was able to get BG at 422-475, so the Atenonol keeps her High. I am gauging a lot on output. She drinks about 250 mls a day. And her out put is only 2-3 urines a day. But I have her at 3.50 steady. The drinking is down to like 125 mls. There is no dehydration at scuff either.
She is eating fresh chix mixed with the evo with a tad of Fancy Feast to get the meds down. She needs 1/2 of 1/4 of a Zantac 2x a day or she dry heaves and fluid comes up. So that stopped with the consistency of the dose. She is getting Miralax - 1/4 teas every day, although today she didn't get it today. she is on 1/4 advanced acidophilus but I am changing that this week to the Fortiflora since it is geared towards felines.
I stopped the l-lysine for a week and she relapsed into a cold or upper resp. She is sneezing and coughing again. Had I known the L-lysine had such an effect on it, I wouldn't have stopped it, but I ran out and said...
But I am convinced since this has happened twice so far where I stopped it and she relapsed. I put her on the left over Clavomox and made a vet appt. for Thursday. I admin'd the first dose today at 4:30 and her sneezing is subsiding to like 7x an hour where it was like every 15 minutes consecutive sneezing. OMG.
other than that, she is a trooper and is happy. I am going to stay up and admin 2nd dose at 12, that is like 8 hrs later.
He will probably keep her on that and give her another med with it.
So we learn a little bit about Tiffadiliac every day. She is contagious. I love her more every day!!!!
Tiffy stays close to the door of my apt even when I leave her for a walk in the hall. She runs back if there is a noise. My heart is sadden because I realize that she didn't run away now.

She is chronic with the uri.

I am confident though that we will win. She might be on insulin for the rest of her life due to the cardiomyopathy, but we will keep fighting the uri with all we have and guard her Blood glucose and cardiac condition.

Does anyone know anything about Mega Red Fish oil pills. Really is supposed to be good for heart conditions in felines?
also, why can't we feed them food with fish? I occasionally give her some of my dinner of fish, halibut or salmon or flounder?????

I don't know about the pills. But as far as the "fish" and why it isn't recommended...
I used to think it was due to mercury content but someone explained to me recently that the mercury isn't that big a deal. The issue with fish flavors is that they tend to be high in phosphorus, and that can be problematic with renal issues. Like kitties who suffer from CKD/CRF, and need low phosphorus food. It's tough when a cat is both CKD and diabetic, because it's not easy to find flavors that are both low in phosphorus and low in carbs. With most brands, you'll find the seafoods are lowest in carbs but also the highest in phosphorus.
