Highest AMPS in nearly 45 days. Not sure why, I gave the last snack nearly 2.5 hours prior to the AMPS. One of the cats broke into the new box of wet food around +8 and tore 2 pouches so Shen might have licked some of the gravy then.
I delayed the shot time by 30 mins today since I have to be out tomorrow and I might be back late. Maybe that also contributed.
I made a couple of mistakes day before yesterday. We ran out of his usual LC and for PM snacks I gave him Sheba chicken pate for kittens, which I thought was LC but apparently it wasn’t. I mistook it for the Royal canin pate for kittens which is about 10%, so high but still LC. But I think the Sheba pate is over 12% (they don’t mention the ash%, so it’s probably much higher). That’s why his AM +2 went up, which hasn’t happened for a while now.
I was too tired day before yesterday, dozed off after the PM shot and didn’t get any tests in the PM cycle (a first, and I felt so bad
) and so couldn’t note the spikes then. Shen woke me up for all 3 PM snacks since I forgot to put alarms too
His AMPS was surprisingly lower so I gave him the Sheba again.
While I was waiting for his usual LC food order to arrive, I tried experimenting with another LC (Matisse can ~2%) after his AM shot yesterday. I didn’t see a significant drop/ difference but at least his BG didn’t go up. I might eventually shift Shen to it. He got loosies from it though.
Might take Shen to the vet today evening to do his blood work and get an opinion on his teeth.
@Bandit's Mom @Bron and Sheba (GA) I know Shen’s BGs with the drop dose are more or less in the same range as they were with the higher doses, and the AMPSes are actually better. 50-60s are very rare though so I feel he’s still at the higher end of the normal range. Does he need to go back to 0.1U or are we good with the drop dose?
Giving a snack at +8/9 doesn’t always guarantee a green AMPS. I tried a different combination of timing and quantity of snack. So I don’t know if I should worry too much about it.
And finally, happy weekend to everyone!
