Re: 07/04 J.D. PMPS 359 still constipated
He just ate some pumkin with his dinner.
I have Vetbasis which is petroleum free, is that okay? He hates it, but I could force some into his mouth.
I put lots of water in each of his meals and he seems to like it that way, although it's been awhile since he's had it without extra water. This all started with bad stinky diarrhea all day on Wednesday June 22nd. When he still had it on Thursday June 23rd, I took him to my parent's vet. They did a C&S (which came back negative) but put him on Clindamycin for 7 days, and he also had 2 days of Bio-Sponge (an intestinal protectant). She also gave me Metronidazole which he never had to have, because the diarrhea stopped.
He didn't poo the rest of the day Thursday after the vet visit (but I figured he had pooed himself out after all the diarrhea).
On Friday June 24th he had a nice sized poo.
He did not poo on Saturday June 25th or Sunday June 26th.
He often gets constipated when on these California vacations. I remember trying to find or make dirt piles outside hoping that he would take advantage.
On Monday June 27th he had a small hard poo. I was worried that the FortiFlora he was getting because of the antibiotics was stopping him up.
On Tuesday June 28th he did not poo, and I was going to take him in for an enema on Wednesday June 29th (because we were supposed to fly home on Thursday June 30th).
On Wednesday June 29th he pooed a nice dog sized poo a half hour after I gave him 100mg of docusate sodium. But I thought the poo was from the Miralax and not the docusate sodium.
On Thursday June 30th we spent most of the day driving to the airport and back and J.D. had a big poo when we got home.
On Friday July 1st we drove to the airport and then flew to NJ and arrived home around midnight. He did not poo all day.
On Saturday July 2nd he did not poo.
On Sunday July 3rd he pooed two small turds.
I had to go through all my "Yesterday"s to find this information. I think I have it right.
Maybe, since I didn't give him any Miralax yet tonight, and because it may have helped before, I'll give him another dose of the Dulcolax.
