06/24 Jackson - AMPS 141, +2 229, +4 238

I'm so glad his numbers are going down. I haven't been able to be on the forum much lately because of work, but I remember how you started with him and what you're achieving. You're a fantastic mom! I wish you luck and hope you can stabilize him.

Thank you so much. That means so much to me. 🩷 :bighug:

Great that his numbers are going down a bit! What exactly does the Cabergoline do? I know he's acro, so I'm assuming it treats that??
I don't know if all this is true, but from what I understand Acromegaly is a condition that humans and cats get and it is a benign tumor in the pituitary (in the brain), that causes excessive growth hormone, meaning I think even though he's 11 almost 12 that he may become bigger, and it affects how his natural insulin isn't quite enough and he needs extra insulin and that's why the diabetes.
I have been around a long time, and it used to scare me emensly when I saw a cat getting huge doses because of IAA or Acro. Well, now I got one.
As far as I know, the treatments are brain surgery (through the roof of the mouth? to get to the pituitary by a very specialized vet surgeon) SRT (radiation) which involves anesthia, or a couple of drugs that humans use and can help cats too.
We are wishing The Best for them to help Jackson too.

Thanks for explaining that. I actually have a friend who had acromegaly as a child. He ended up being quite tall as a youngster and as an adult. It was probably fifty years or so ago, and I'm not sure how they treated it then (he lived in Mexico), but I believe they somehow got rid of the tumor. I'll have to ask him more about it. I sure hope the Cabergoline does the job for Jackson.
