Hey spud kitty  ,

What are you doing out there in PEI - you're disappointing your mama bean. Oh well, Peter's right, sometimes they have to go up before they come down. Don't be too discouraged Kath, you're doing a great job with Trey. Sending Trey lots of surfing vines! Have a good day, Kath and I hope you don't get some of this bad weather we had yesterday - remnants of the Nebraska weather!

Anne

that's Devon who posts - Peter is her husband. Isn't she sweet?! *waves hi to devon* and you should see the cookies she makes!

i saw your last comment about Trey peeing in a box in front of you. For punkin, that was how he told me that he had a bladder infection. Unfortunately, while he sometimes used a box, what he usually did to get my attention was to pee in the center of our bed. Good thing we loved him! One time it was on the bare floor right in front of me, and it was bloody. easy to see the blood when it isn't soaked into anything. I think i'd talk to the vet about it. If you get a test done, you want the cystocentesis - they use a needle to withdraw the urine, rather than expressing it out. The trouble with just expressing it is that it can get contaminated and show bacteria when there isn't any in the bladder itself. Also, http://www.catinfo.org has a section with excellent info on cats and UTI's. often they are sterile and causing pain, but not an actual infection. Getting the cystocentesis can help determine if it's an infection or sterile inflammation.

are you adding water to his food? That can help keep things flushing through, and when there is sugar in the urine it encourages bacteria to grow. punkin had about 8 annual bladder infections, until he became diabetic and i started him on canned food with water added. No more bladder issues after that. Also, boy kitties sometimes have more urinary tract problems from eating fish foods.
