Hi all, sorry I haven't posted lately, I am going through some really tough time at work and just not doing well.

Well today first black, but good news is I got the perscription for cabergoline, will pick it up tomorrow. Now I did find out why there is such a price difference, my vet found it first at a normal pharmacy for about 100.00 and then she checked with her supplier for vets, and she said it was ALOT more for the exact same thing, no difference..

Now questions for @Bronx's dad, for some reason I thought the drug was a liquid, but it is a pill. to start marvin will only need 1/8 of a pill. Hope it's a big pill.. question does that sound right, did you have to cut the pill?

Glad to hear your vet is on board with trying Cabergoline! I had the option of liquid or pill and I chose the liquid. 1/8 will be hard to cut down if it is small which means you have to cut it in half 3 times. I was a little concerned with the liquid having sugar in it since it was "fish flavored", but Bronx did eat it up w/o a problem. Started with 0.3ml & doubled towards the end to 0.6ml. One thing RVC told me when I was weaning him off: don't stop abruptly, decrease smaller & smaller amounts over 2 weeks to prevent a dopamine effect that humans have experienced with the cabergoline .

Thanks, I will check with the pharmacy if they have the liquid version. In the states you have more options than we do here, so it might just be that we don't have the liquid version. I am keeping my fingers cross that it will work for him. as I think the tumor is acting up, cause his numbers are way high. Vet read up on the drug, and based on what she found, it makes sense that they trail it. I think she said it's used for cushings in humans.

Liquid version had to be made at a compound pharmacy and could not be bought locally. How many days will the $100 bottle last?

I don't think Diamondback delivers to Canada. Your vet should have the name of a local compounding pharmacy. Mine is near the local hospital. If you google the name of your town and compounding pharmacy pet, you might find it. A god pill cutter is also worth getting.

Sorry about the black, but he came down to pink and might have good lower. Might have been a good time for a before bed test.

How is Marvin doing?

not sure, pharmacy only told the vet about the pills. She had mention that should be almost 2 months. I will have to look into that type of pharmacy, did you have to find it yourself or did you vet or pharmacy tell you about the compound Pharmacy?

call and check the prices at www.diamondbackdrugs.com when you need your next bottle. They usually saved me lots of money, especially on bupenorphine.
I am in Canada, so I don't think I can order prescription drugs from the US. Our regulations are different. I will see if we have an equivant site for pet drugs here. I am sure Wendy will chime in and let us know... she is so knowledgeable and in Canada too :) so grateful she is here on the site, every one is amazing here :cat:

Vet found it and I had to purchase & pick it up there at the vet

Done and done, see up one post. ;)
Lol great timing Wendy:) Yes I found one and just emailed them, so will see what they say and what their cost is. if too pricey will get the pill cutter.

Marvin still seems fine, like the high numbers are not affecting him yet. probably because he had a few weeks with lower numbers. If the number stay high, I am sure some of the other symptoms will come back, massive pee and drinking. so far he's not drinking more, at least I haven't noticed. The pee is a bit more, but not like a few months back. He is still trying to get around, maybe a bit less than last week. Sometime the change is so slight it's hard to tell if something did change or if it's your imagination.

I may need to use the towel trick to get his BG soon, as treats no longer working and he has figured it out and constantly moves his head and bits (doesn't hurt, just enough to tell me to back off). I have been having a harder time getting his ear to bleed, even when it is warm.
