Boomer is only 65 BG so once again no shot for Boomer. Now we seem to be skipping every other shot instead of every 4th one.
Julie.....late yesterday you asked if I fed at +3....I usually feed at +4 and +8....so every 4 hours throughout the day. Do you think I should look at changing this schedule?

Re: 06/14 Boomer AMBG 65

I'd encourage you to start thinking about shooting lower numbers. The basic mantra is "Shoot low to stay low." It looked like Boomer was surfing very nicely. Chances are, he'd continue to surf in green numbers.

Re: 06/14 Boomer AMBG 65

Hi Sienne.....did that last weekend and spent the next 9 hours trying to keep him out of dangerously low numbers. Boomer hasn't read the protocol

Re: 06/14 Boomer AMBG 65 +7 70

Still steady at 70, it's been 19 hours since last shot and he's been steady between 65 and 70 for at least 7 hours now.
Happy Happy Mommy today

Re: 06/14 Boomer AMBG 65 +7 70 PROUD MOMMY TODAY!

looking good! no, you don't need to change his feeding schedule. +4 and +8 are fine.

you might take a look at the "New to the Group" sticky for the pictures of tiny doses. You're going to need the 0.1u dose before long. In fact, it might be good to try that instead of skipping if you have a higher-low preshot.

There is one dose less than a 0.1u. You push in the plunger and hold it tightly, insert the needle into the insulin, release the plunger. It will draw in just a drop of insulin. That's the least dose. You can express it to see what it looks like so you know how much you're giving.

all green so far today looks great! keep it up, Boomer!

Re: 06/14 Boomer AMBG 65 +9 67 PROUD MOMMY TODAY!

And he's still the same BG!
Julie....next time I shoot should I be looking at reducing to .1?

Re: 06/14 Boomer AMBG 65 +9 67 PROUD MOMMY TODAY!

i don't know. if only boomer would follow the protocol . . . then it would be easy to say no, stay at the same dose until he goes below 50. :-D

it's your choice. you know him awfully well. he doesn't look quite ready to give up insulin yet, so i'd want to get something into him.

Re: 06/14 Boomer AMBG 65 +9 67 PROUD MOMMY TODAY!

I am really curious as to how long he can hold this level!
Shot is due in about 90 minutes. Chances are he won't get one but time will tell. However, since we normally shoot early, 6:00 pm, it does give us an extra four or five hours....if his levels start coming up then conceivably we could shoot and not have to worry about having to shoot at precisely 6:00 am tomorrow. And it's not like he gets more than one shot in a row anyways

Re: 06/14 Boomer AMBG 65 now at 77

He's at 77 now so still at a good level but on the way up. I didn't have any choice but to feed him now.
I will keep testing him every hour; if he keeps going up then I will shoot as long as I can get Boomer to eat again. In all likelihood if I shoot tonight I won't be shooting tomorrow morning so timing won't be an issue.

Does this sound like a logical plan?

Re: 06/14 Boomer AMBG 65 now at 77

What a day for Boomer! 77 really isn't that much different...not much of a rise at all. It will be interesting to see what he does tonight.

Re: 06/14 Boomer AMBG 65 now at 77

Well he'll need to come up a bit before I shoot. I don't want another night like last Saturday night!

Re: 06/14 Boomer AMBG 65 back to 70 at +25

Thought he was starting to come up, now an hour after dinner and he went back to 70.

Up to 86 2 hours after he ate and now back down to 74 and no shot for 28 hours.
Boomer has earned   today!

Til tomorrow...

Boomer is definitely dancing to his own drumbeat! :-D Hopefully, he will give you a chance to shoot a tiny bit of insulin into low numbers so you can continue to support his very-rapidly healing pancreas!
