Gideon's vet was very happy I had not gone with his recommendation of Lantus 2 units twice daily, but only did 1 unit twice daily. My boy still drops mid day, so we agreed on 0.75 units twice daily, with BGs before each shot and also mid-day. He is also open to me using a human glucometer, but said the animal ones are more accurate. Not sure if that is true, since to me blood is blood. I will keep looking into human glucometers that only need .03mls of blood. Thank you all for helping us!

The only other human meter that takes the .03 is Nova Max. I find it tempermental. If you can find the discontinued Relion Confirm or Micro they take the .03. Love my micro.

Can you still get test strips for the micro? It’s what I have as well.

Does anyone have experience with the Freestyle Light? Also, I am leaving looking for a lancing device that has a clear cover/end cap. I am using the one that came with the Alphatrak and really like it, but want a spare. The clear end makes it easy to see if you are in the right spot.
 
If you mention the meter's name in your subject line, people will respond. If you don't ask about it in the subject line, you have to rely on people opening your thread. Lots of people use the Freestyle meter.
