Hello, this is my first post on this thread as I've been communicating on the main health forum before this. I have been using the Freestyle Libre 14 to monitor Scout's BG. A friend of mine with diabetes just gave me one of her spare glucometers so that I can begin to test after the Libre is no longer operating. The one she gave me is a Bayer Contour. She also gave me 30-gauge and 33-gauge lancets. Is anyone familiar with this type of glucometer? Are these the correct size lancets I should use? I must say I'm not looking forward to doing the testing, but I'm sure it will feel better to do it after I've had some practice with it.

Hi Mary and welcome to the L /B and L page.!:)
Here is your post from the main forum for continuity. I forgot the tell you we link the last post to the current one so helpers can read back if needed https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...mber-newly-diagnosed-cat.247331/#post-2791451
You would be better to get size 26 or 28 gauge lancets as they are bigger and you will have a better chance of getting blood. Later on you can use the other lancets.
The Bayer Contour is fine to use. Once you start using it you might like to put it into the signature so we can see what meter you se using...thanks!
I would start doing a bit of practice now, once you get the larger lancets, so you are an old hand when the libre is finished.
