I guess I should have gotten up when J.D. was purring loudly in my ear and biting my face and pulling my hair in the middle of the night  but I didn't. Like I said yesterday, his ears are so sore, and it took like 7 pokes to get enough blood for this AMPS. Poor kitty. I feel like trying a paw pad.
And, I didn't get a +11 this morning, either, so I don't know if he was dropping when I shot. I shot in the scruff this morning, hoping for slower absorption.
1st breakfast served and eaten. All Ps in place.
The cats are crying and begging to go outside, but it's too early, too cold, and too wet out, right now. Silly kitties.
It must be hard getting blood out of dark eared kitties. Spikes ears are so light with very fine hair I can see exactly where to poke. I use the lancet pen that comes with accu-chek monitors. It works great, Spike never minds the click noise. Have you ever tried these?
Good morning,Dyana!
It's a nice start for J.D.!
My kitties were out at 5:30am, but they just stay on deck or backyard -listen the birds. Now is ....nap time (for bean too)
You have a nice day!

I poke on the inside of his ears where there is less hair and are white (pretty strange the insides of his ears are white).
I have never even tried poking on the outside with all that black hair, it would seem almost impossible.
I poke free hand using One Touch Ultra Soft lancets, the Fine Points didn't work very consistantly.
Normally, I switch ears about every 3 or 4 days, but I found a sore (it looked like a burn) on the back of his "good bleeding" ear about a week ago, probably from my thumbnail rubbing the back of the ear to "milk" it. It seemed very painful, so I've mainly been poking his "not so good bleeding" ear for the past week. It often takes more than one poke. I'm just not getting good droplets, the blood is not bubbling up and out. I am having to poke many times just to get enough to scrape from his poke ridden ear.
It only took 2 pokes for this +1. Sorry to ramble on.
Hi Dyana! How are you? So sorry to hear about JD's ears! I use a ricesock to warm them and it tends to work every time, I also put neosporin on where I poke and it heals up pretty quick. I did go through a point a while back where Scrabble's ears got really red and sensitive and I felt so bad poking him! Nice to see some lower numbers, hope the ears get better!!
Good morning Dyana and JD! I was glad to see that JD came down to a nice blue number this morning and I hope the scruff shooting helps slow the absorbtion.
Poor JD's ears. I guess I'm a lucky one...Spot has white ears and I almost always get the right amount of blood to do a test. I use the Relion Micro and I just need the tinest drop of blood. I haven't used a rice sock for almost 6 months now. His ears bleed pretty good w/o one. I also use the neosporin w/ pain relief...rub a small bit on his ears before poking and the blood bead up nicely and helps w/the healing That stuff is pretty good...I have two cuts on my toe from stepping on a piece of glass...they just wouldn't heal. The other day I put some on the toe, put on my socks and shoes and went to work. Toe is nicely healed right now!
J.D. will be green today. Why does he almost always start dropping the second his shot is injected? I thought he was supposed to wait until onset 2 hours later..
I put pain relief neosporin on both ears after this +1.75 test. I thought the neosporin was the cause of the not beading up of the drops.
