Bubba didn’t finish his freeze dried nugget from overnight and he peed on the floor again. He’s totally not hungry this morning either - he turns away from food. I wish my baby would just get better. I noticed he was walking more on the hocks of his back legs yesterday. I don’t know why he isn’t hungry. His shot is due now and he hasn’t eaten. I can’t give him his metacam either because he hasn’t eaten so I can’t help his pain. This is emotional turmoil for me

Has he been tested for pancreatitis?

You should be good to give at least half a dose. Cats getting anaesthesia who cannot eat typically get half dose. But if stalling, I'd test again and see if he's still dropping. Might be breaking a bounce, so a more active cycle coming up.

Thanks Wendy. We did his fPL in Feb March and April and while the numbers have increased each time his vet doesn’t want to “officially diagnose” him as having pancreatitis (I’m still on the fence) …. However, since he hasn’t been vomiting, had diarrhea, his blood work is pretty good - his liver enzymes and electrolytes are normal, or had any other classic signs of pancreatitis (not until now with inappetence) his vet didn’t think he has it…he’s gained weight actually and had a good appetite (until the last few days).
I syringe fed Bubba his breakfast - he ate most of it. I added water to make a slurry and drew it up in the tiniest syringe ever lol (it’s all I had on hand). Eventually he actually started licking it out of the syringe as I injected it! He was swishing his tail away as we were syringe feeding him. I gave him half a tablet / 8mg of cerenia as well that we got in November. I don’t doubt he has inflammation of the pancreas, but whether it’s “pancreatitis” I’m not sure yet since his clinical signs point otherwise for the most part.
I gave him his full dose of insulin 15min late. I was panicking about him not eating and I just wanted him to eat I didn’t think of a partial dose :blackeye:

Both Minnie and Bobo had/have IBD and the pancreatitis was a possibility but the numbers were always not quite there. Anyway, Cerenia never worked well for them. Ondansetron does and Bobo is on it daily not only when he won’t want to eat. Hopefully the Cerenia helps but you may want to ask your vet for a prescription for ondansetron. They work differently so they can take both concurrently. Ondansetron only lasts for about 6-8 hours and it can be given more often as needed as opposed to Cerenia which is once a day only. It worked really well for both my cats.

Bubbas feeling a bit better - he ate some raw plus MC on his own! Got up to have a drink of water, stretched and is now relaxing.

My precious beastie is holding his greens well today! He's relaxing, and had a pp in his box o_Oo_O:rolleyes::rolleyes:
Nibbled on some more food as well.

My boy gives me such scares... I freak out when his appetite drops to nothing... my boy is a foodie and always has been so when he turns away from his food, it worries the heck out of me :(:blackeye: I get his appetite will decrease / go back to normal as his sugars are better controlled, but to not even want his breakfast!? or his freeze dried nugget?! or steamed fishy!? :nailbiting:

Tried to give Bubba his dinner and he turned away his head again :(
Added his yummy MC canned to his raw and still wasn’t interested.
Why oh why is there one damn thing after another??!!:banghead::( We finally get his numbers within a good range and he loses his appetite and seems disinterested. :arghh:

I saw my poor boy walking a bit just now and he's walking on the hocks of his back legs... while they were lower the past week, I just noticed a significant drop in the height of his hocks :( He can't really hold himself up with his hind legs, walks a few steps then sits - I hope this is his reason for inappetence.
In late summer 2019, he was diagnosed as having bone spurs on a few lumbar vertebrae. Metacam used to work for him, but I guess it isn't as effective anymore. His sugars have been pretty good, so I would have hoped that any diabetic neuropathy he had would have been getting better?

I emailed my vet to hopefully pick up a bupe Rx tomorrow to be compounded at a compound pharmacy.
Of course I have to work, but luckily it's only an 8hr day and not a 12.

What a blood effin day :banghead:

Bubba dipped into the limes tonight... he was 8.3/149 at PMPS and now at +3.25 he is 2.6/47

Because Bubba has't eaten much today... I syringe fed him breakfast, he nibbled some food on/off today and now just spoon-fed him approx. 2 tbsp of First Mate MC (thankfully he licked it off the spoon, he had zero desire to do that earlier today!)... of course his numbers would drop into the limes.

I guess this means he is due for a reduction to 6.5U from the current 7.0U

I got the drill of rechecking sugars every 20-30 minutes and feeding MC food

What a nice start of my 15 days of "vacation"!!! :blackeye::(

@Wendy&Neko @Bandit's Mom

Since Bubba hasn't had much to eat today (definitely more this evening than earlier today though), I presume that his sugars are lower this evening due to lack of food? aka "artificially" lower? If that makes sense.

Or maybe he was on his way to a reduction anyways??

Thanks for your input
