Hello, here is yesterday:

What a day. I got up at 3:30 am and got everything ready to leave by 4:45. At first the drive was easy but getting into the city was a nightmare. Got Eddie to the clinic and the vet came and we discussed the treatment. She showed me photos of his mouth. It was awful, so many resorptions and some broken teeth.

They did a lot of work. And I picked up up at what would be AM +10. They have not given him any insulin even though I had requested it. Nor has he had any medications.

They said he ate but I've just tried and he's not interested. I mean, after all that, I don't blame him and we are in a strange place. I'm tested him and gave him 4u (instead of 8). I don't know what else I can do as I cannot make him eat and just have to be patient I guess. They gave him a Cerenia injection and a Convenia injection so that takes it out of my hands, too.

What do you think @Wendy&Neko

What a day. I am soooooo tired. They've given me more Buprenorphine to give tonight. Hopefully by morning he'll want to eat something.

P.s. should I try some Mirtazapine?

His mouth must be really sore after all that work - poor guy. That must have been a long surgery for him with all that work done. I'm glad you've got bupe for him. And hopefully more for tomorrow too. He's had quite the day with the drive and the surgery. I think he just needs to chill with you tonight.

Since you just gave him a half dose and he didn't have any this morning, I wouldn't be too worried about getting him to eat much. Just make sure he's got some purree food out to lick if he feels like it. You have Churu to try?

Did they tell you how many teeth got taken out today? Or how many are left? :blackeye:

They gave me enough bupe for 7 days, in fact. He is chilling right now. I brought his safe house and he looked relieved to see it.

I've let some puree food in his safe house with some Churu on top.

They left his canines. She said they were in good shape so she cleaned them. The dental report/diagram is in the car but I'm pretty sure they took at least 10 teeth that were broken in the gum while some had resorpted. I'll post the diagram tomorrow but from the notes, which I have:

"most of Eddie's upper and lower premolars were missing. The right lower fourth premolar had evidence of resorption. Gingiva inflamed and edemmatous. While evidnce showed intact root, extraction of premolar done.
several areas showed eidence of retained root remnants with ractive gingiva around alevolus inflamed and edematous. Along some areas there was exposed root remannts. Extraction.
Complicated crown and root fracture, exposed pulp.

Prior to surgery cleaned remaining teeth with ultrasonic scaling and hand instruments.
Diseased teeth and root remnants extracted. All closed with absorbable suture material."

One more thing: if he's still not all that interested in food in am, ok for 4u again?

They did a lot and I'm sure in a day or so he will be really happy. Right now he's snoring in the safe house.

When are you heading home again? Just a bit worried about going too long on too little insulin, not eating enough and infection/inflammation. If you can test for ketones, it would be a good idea. 8 units was already a low dose.

I’m heading home this morning. Right now it’s 3:00am. I can’t test for ketones. Im calling vet when they open. He has Cerenia, Convenia and Clyndamycin injectables on board. As well as Buprenorphine. It looks like he are some of the food I left in his safe house. I’ll see how we go in morning, I.e, regular morning.
