Question on B12 injections-I only have U100 insulin syringes. Didn't even think to order or ask about mL syringes. Can I use them? If so, what would be the dosage on the insulin syringes for 0.25 no?

0.25 to 0.5 ml of the 1000mcg/1ml concentration (so 250-500mcg)

If you have 0.3mL u100 syringes, every 10 units is equal to 0.1mL so .25mL should be 25 units. I’ve never used insulin syringes to give anything but insulin, so please don’t take my word for it and verify with someone who has done, but that should be how the math works out.

Thanks. I have 2 different 100U syringes. One was issued with the Adequan Epogen. I will have to look at that rx and see if I can verify your math. Hopefully someone else will chime in too.

I'm sorry. I don't now. A friend gave me the B12 and some syringes. I'll have to figure out what the syringes are so I can get more, but I don't know right now.

Ok, the Epogen RX states:
Epogen 1ML INJ 2000U/ML
Inject 20 Units subcutaneous weekly using U-100 syringe

The B12 bottle RX states:
1000 mcg/mL - Net contents: 250mL
Give 0.3CC Subcutaneously every 2 weeks

As someone already said, it's impossible to od on B12, so try not to sweat it. Yea, like I got anywhere to look. lol

Hey Lizzie,

Sootie’s insulin syringes were u100, 30 unit, 3/10ml(cc) capacity. I never used the insulin syringes for other than insulin but did find this link that includes a conversion chart.

If the info in the link is correct, a 30 unit u100 insulin syringe would equal .30 ml(cc).

1 u100 units = .01 ml (cc)
30 u100 units = .30 ml (cc)

Or:
X # of u100 units x .01 = x # of ml(cc).

That should be 30 units worth if you have 3/10mL cc
0.3mL syringes, a little more than .25mL and like stated before, no big deal on water soluble vitamins if it’s a little more than needed. I use BD syringes and on the right where 30 units are printed, the left side of that says 0.3mL
