THANK YOU TO @Wendy&Neko @Bandit's Mom @Bron and Sheba (GA) for supporting me and my parents during BUBBA's low numbers episode. What a boy! First he doesn't want to cooperate with insulin, then he becomes bffs with it !!!! :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Here come the emojis bc I only ever speak in emoji or GIFs ....

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::p:p:p:D:D:D:rolleyes::rolleyes::smuggrin::smuggrin:o_Oo_O:woot::woot:

Almost time to go home and sleep forever... good thing the patients at work cooperated better than Bubba's pancreas! HAH!

Here comes the Bubba Bouncy Castle…!!!
I’m expecting a bounce for today… I suppose it would be well deserved?!
Finally home. Bubba is relaxing. I gave him his amlodipine and Metacam, gave him a nice wipe down as his bib was a bit messy from honey :rolleyes::rolleyes:

I just woke up, but Bubba has been alert today - walking around, eating/drinking appropriately, meowing (as per usual lol), purring away when I picked him up... so hopefully he has no lasting effects (neurological, or otherwise) from his extended low sugars last night.

Since he was given only 4U this morning, he will get 7.5U tonight... @Wendy&Neko @Bandit's Mom @Bron and Sheba (GA) - would the difference between the two doses cause Bubba's blood sugars to drop dramatically?

Also, is there a document somewhere either here or the FB group that outlines medium/high carb food for hypo emergencies - I can't seem to find it and I remember seeing something about higher carb food before. Bubba has been on raw food since he was a baby and I have no knowledge in canned food - I do suspect he has a skin allergy to some types of ingredients found in processed cat food - so I would want to get him something that is "clean" ie. no fillers, additives, crap lol

Thank you!~

This document lists the percent range for MC and LC The Official Lantus, Levemir & Biosimilars Slang Dictionary. So basically any food in the 11-15% (MC) or 16-25% (HC), that your cat can eat will work. For example, I changed HC foods when Neko got her CKD diagnosis to be something lower phosphorus. Also under consideration is allergies and protein restrictions. Some people suggest Fancy Feast gravy lovers, but I do not. It has wheat in it (the carb) which is a common allergen. Look for something with either potato or rice as carbs.

The difference in dose should not cause his blood sugars to drop drastically, but it's not a guarantee. Some cats show a reaction a cycle or two after a fur shot (or partial shot), some don't. Bubba could just keep bouncing away.

Another option for raw feeding is to add corn syrup or maple syrup, if honey isn't going down as easily. I used to just add a drop of corn syrup to Neko's regular food, especially when under 40.

Bubbas bouncing to the moon! I’m ok with that. Back to work tonight so hopefully tonight is uneventful :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Here is my boy relaxing on MY chair this evening :kiss:
