Hi Karen , I'm so sorry you're sick :bighug:
The web site was down for a couple of hours , none of us could get on.
Daphne had a nice start this morning , looking good nice +7
Whatever tests you can get in is fine, you need to rest up, when you do another test don't forget to fill in your SS with the +7 and add her name to your title
I hope you will start to feel better soon :bighug::bighug::bighug::cat:

I hope you're feeling better and that Daphne was surfing along in blue numbers today.

Are you giving her a snack later in the cycle (e.g., +8 or +9)? I'm wondering if a bit of food later on may cause her pancreas to kick in and drop her pre-shot numbers a little.

Also, could you correct the AM +3 number on 4/18. I nearly panicked when I saw a 5. Your comments suggest that the test was a 55.

It turns out that I have covid for the first time, and it's rough.

Wow. I thought her numbers were really good. Where would you like to see them?

Daphne grazes, and I read that she shouldn't have food 2 hours before, so I put the dish up 2 hours before her PM shot. I would consider an automatic feeder but I don't know how to figure out her feeding schedule. She typically comes back to eat again around 2.5-3 hr. and she gets an early afternoon snack. We also give her a couple of TBl of food at bedtime. Should she be getting an additional meal during the night?

Oh man sorry you have covid, I had it when it first starting coming around, yes it's rough, I also had a fever 103 , I was freezing .
Did the doctor give you that med for it ,I forget what it's called ,I never had it, but I know you have to get it as soon as you know you have covid in order for it to help.

About what Sienne said about maybe feeding a small meal around +8 or +9 is to see if her pre shot numbers may come down some to much lower blues or even high green numbers .
I would say to try this for both cycles AM and PM
That's what I did with Tyler and it worked for him, you will just have to try it if you can and for more than just a few days ,
I know you're feeling like crap so whenever you can start doing it

You need to pick up the food 2 hours prior before testing for in the AM and PM ,just not the PM

Thanks for your good wishes. I am going to call my doctor to get on Paxlovid.

I thought food raised glucose numbers; I feel so confused. I'm sure I read that I should not feed after +10. Maybe that's why Sienne said +8 or +9.

You're right. I'm too ill to do anything today.

Covid can be awful. I hope the Paxlovid helps. I came down with it in late November and was fortunate that it was a mild case. The cats liked that I was home!

There are some aspects of treating diabetes that can seem illogical. On the one hand, you're correct -- food can raise blood glucose (BG) levels especially if the food is high in carbs. In a non-diabetic, when our cat eats, it stimulates the pancreas to release insulin. Insulin transports the end product of our metabolizing food (i.e., glucose) into the cells. If the pancreas isn't working, like in diabetes, the glucose floats around in the blood and doesn't move into the cells. We give an insulin injection in order to get the glucose to where it needs to be. As Daphne's numbers are improving and you're needing progressively less insulin, it's telling you her pancreas is beginning to work again. As a result, if you give her food, it stimulates her pancreas, the pancreas produces insulin, and it helps to pull her numbers down.

Since you're seeing lots of green numbers during the middle of the cycle, it may help to give a snack at around +8 or +9 and see if it helps to bring the pre-shot numbers a bit lower.

You may not need an elaborate feeder if you are around during the day. It may be helpful to have a simple feeder for a late in the cycle PM snack so you don't have to wake up.

Correct you can feed @+8 or@+9
that's it Paxlovid , I hope it will help :bighug::bighug:

My husband gave her a small amount of LC pate at +9. We'll see. It looks like she's holding in the 150s today.

I think I have a rougher case of Covid. Sure hope the second Paxlovid starts to make a difference. I have not left the bed today.

She's been in the blues around 150 today and very hungry. I hope we did the right thing to feed her at +7.5 and +9.
