I am attaching an older thread because it has to do with this post. Panzer goes to the vet tomorrow for a urinalysis & I will also be taking a sample of his urine in with me incase he still has a UTI & we don't have to wait for results. I'm pretty sure they can do an in house urinalysis because they have the machines in there office. Should I have it sent to the lab or have them do an in house? Also if Panzer does has a UTI what antibiotic do you guys consider safe? He was on Zeniquin, Clavamox, & amoxicillin, so we've tried those 3. I was originally going to talk to my vet about switching him to Lantus but my original vet is out with covid. So that discussion will happen when & if he has bloodwork done in May. One of the 2 boys has puked up food & furball in it twice now. I originally thought it was Spook but @ +7 feeding last night Panzer started doing the thing they do when they are trying to cough up a furball, so I'm not sure who's furball/puke it was. Spook is still turning his nose up to food but will eat with me coaxing him to eat. Panzer is eating good.https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...n-please-94-3-84-4-105-8.260856/#post-2927234

I remember looking at that urinalysis, although I can't see it now in the posts above. I do remember that the culture and sensitivity testing said that the infection was responsive to amoxicillin (which is what he's been taking). I'm not sure what they will do if he still has signs of bacteria. I'm thinking they may just give you more amoxicillin for a longer time. I think what they will probably do is first look at his urine under their microscope and look for bacteria. If they see it, they may went to send it out to a lab... but maybe not... because they already cultured it last time. Unless they see a different shape of bacteria or something, then why would they send it out again. If they don't see anything at all, they may say he's cured. But you can tell them about how he meows in the litter box (he only does this some of the time, right?)

Yeah I was trying to attach it to that post but failed to figure it out. Ok that makes sense, thank you. I hope & pray they say he is cured my poor sweet boy, if that happens then we can go ahead with bloodwork again to see if his Bun, creatinine, & other #s come down. Yes I will tell them about the meowing, & he hasn’t done it for several days so I'm hopeful. The last time I said that he did it after I posted (knock on wood)

I was in the post from 3- 24 urinalysis

Hope all goes well at the vet today. I hope that UTI is GONE! If not, you still have some more options (some of the more common being doxycycline and enrofloxacin which is Baytril.) But I REALLY REALLY hope that, after all this time and everything that poor Panzer has been through, it is GONE for good! It sounds like Spook really needs to be seen though, if his appetite is still bad. And didn't you say that Spook is the younger of the two?

Ok thank you, I will make a post later today on the vet visit. Yes he is he just turned 5 on 4-20. He has an appointment coming up on Tues unless they try to reschedule it. I think he hates the beef flavor, that's what they are eating now & I'm really having to push him to eat it! He does that with other flavors to but especially the beef. I'm pretty sure he's the one that has puked twice & it has been the beef flavor. He ate a little over half of it with me coaxing him. He has always had issues with furball, he's long haired & he also bathes Panzer. Is there something I can give him to help him get it up better? Surprisingly he did get some up twice!
