Another picture that I promised - Vyktor and Meg together. This is the only one in existence and was taken just seconds before Vyktor decided Meg deserved a smack over the head. She probably did deserve it too, it is usually her that starts trouble by charging him and sometimes trying to take a chunk out of him. It's about the only time I hear a noise out of her, she does this funny little growl deep in her throat. He is amazingly tolerant (not usually one of his qualities) and generally tries to keep out of her way.

I think he must have startled her in the lb this morning though. The towel that lines her lb was skewiff with her little pebble poops from one end of the corridor to the other. She must have landed in her water bowl too. It was upright when I went to investigate but the water was everywhere :lol: :lol: :lol:

Vyktor has now gone btb and is looking like an angel and Meg is impatiently waiting for her outdoors time. I'd better oblige or it will be me that she's charging next!

What a fantastic picture! I love that! Meg is beautiful too. With Vyktor lying down she looks the same size. :smile: That's funny that she charges him! I would love to see that. What type of rabbit is Meg?

Such an adorable pair! Meg does look as big as Vyktor but it has got to be an optical illusion or Meg is Super-Size Bunny.

Oh my! Meg is huge! We dont have than many people keeping rabbits in HK because of the living space limitation.

i know that growl, and i've had bunnies that would charge. sorta like the evil black bunny in Monty Python & the Holy Grail.

Not sure what type of rabbit Meg is the old vet (who claimed to be a rabbit specialist but turned out to be a monster - got to get that out now before I sign the settlement deed which won't permit me to 'discredit' her anymore :lol: ) said she was a dwarf cross. She only weighs in at around 3 kg but looks bigger in that picture because she is in front of Vyktor - so yes an optical illusion.

Poor little girl was dumped at a vet clinic where a friend of mine works with another monster vet who said she would be PTS if someone didn't find a home for her by the end of the day. So plans to get a drooler went out the window and Meg came to live with me instead.

She settled down eventually but she was highly agressive to start off with (because she was frightened) she lived behind the toilet for her first 2 weeks here and ripped me to shreds everytime I went near her - blood, bruises and I'm really quite surprised that I didn't lose a finger!

Adult rabbits take their time getting to know you (and who knows how bad her past was) so the injuries went on for months. She seemed to be just starting to accept me when the monster rabbit vet decided she needed an operation (turns out that she didn't) and we were almost back to square one again. Slowly she accepted me but it was really only after I went to Melbourne for the day recently that she showed me any love. By this stage I had accepted that I was just there to provide food and water and she would live her own life. But after I came home from 22 hours away and laid down with her to say hello she went around my whole body licking me, it was very cute and clear that she had missed me and decided that she wanted a relationship. Now she runs up and gives me little headbutts all the time and she loves her petting time which used to be barely tolerated in exchange for food - this change is more than 2 years after she first arrived! But of course now she's decided that she loves me she's got even less fond of her competition - Vyktor! But who knows, since it took her that long to love me I still have (slim) hopes that one day she might love him too :smile:

What an interesting story about Meg. She is one lucky bunny and you are an exceptionally dedicated bean, I have to say. So that's why you take Meg for a run? She's a substitute for a drooler? :lol: :lol:

we were given one by friends who had left the bunny in a cage in the garage. love the friends, but oh, that poor bunny - that was not cool. her name was Thunderbuns and she was all black. we got her for our son, who was probably 11 or so at the time. anyway, when she was in a cage, if you put a hand in you might not get it back out. she was ferocious.

after we got guinea pigs (we bought 3 girls but one came "pre-loaded" with 2 girls and a boy) - so we ended up with one boy and 5 girls - and we put the little boy in with thunderbuns. Thunderbuns and Rocky were like a little couple, a little odd couple, of course. Thunderbuns would wash Rocky's ears. it was the cutest thing. She was so happy with him. they lived in open plastic bins, like the kind to store gift wrap under your bed, on our hearth in the living room. there was a mesh barrier between the girls and rocky/thunderbuns. no walls, they all just hung out together. thunderbuns didn't figure out for at least a year that she could just hop off of that hearth - probably 15" off the floor.

when she figured out she could just hop out she went on an electric blanket cord killing spree. and do you know, i'm a very slow learner. she killed 3 electric blanket cords (at $45 each to have replaced) before i figured out how to deter her. it was crazy. i thought my husband would kill me or thunderbuns with all of that! :lol:

rabbits aren't the easy pets to have that people seem to think. the guinea pigs were 1000% easier!

Serryn, I don't know how I missed your Happy Day 8! I always respond wee hours in th morning here. What a sweet pic of Meg and Vyktor in the grass, and I'm surprised with the size of her, too! What an amazing story of Meg and you not giving up on her. It sounds like she had a bad experience with the Vet. Heartwarming how she finally came around after you had been gone.

Cute picture and congratulations on the great glucose levels!

When I still lived in the UK my neighbours had guinea pigs and rabbits and my cats were always watching the guinea pigs when they ran around the lawn in one of those movable runs but didn't really pay much attention to the two rabbits who were allowed to run around the garden. One day Strangelove (my cat) ran up to Roger the rabbit and started poking him with her paw. I was worried about her hurting him and called my neighbour but Roger started running round and round Strangelove until she ran and he chased her out of the garden. There was no actual fighting or biting but Strangelove was pretty embarressed and never bothered the rabbits again :lol:

Poor Megs! She had such a bad start in life! No wonder it took a while for her to trust you enough to love you! I never knew rabbits were aggressive either but I guess any animal will be aggressive when they've been mistreated. She sure is lucky you found her and gave her long enough to prove she could be loving.

We've wanted another dog for a while too. I'm still thinking about it but when Racci got diabetes on top of the asthma and expenses went way up and our yard is huge so its not fenced so a dog got put on hold. We really miss having one though. I wish vet bills weren't so high. I'd go out and rescue another cat and dog tomorrow if I didn't have to worry about vets. :lol:

Would you believe this has been sitting in my box for hours and not sent? I can't believe I never sent it! I just found it. sorry..
