Panzer seems to be doing ok. This post im also including Spook who isn't feeling well!!!It seems like the FAT 0.5 dose is getting his #s back down. I'm also taking into consideration that he hasn't had any antibiotics for 5 cycles now. He is still meowing some before using the box but I've also noticed him meowing more like he's more talkative. He's eating well & trying to eat Spooks food as well. Spook is now refusing some food in his normal bowl. He's still eating but I think his teeth are bothering him & he's getting picky on flavors. I rotate 4 to 5 different flavors daily. They eat 3 cans each a day (fancy feast pate) every 4hrs. He hasn't puked & sometimes he will clean his bowl, sometimes I have to coax & baby him to eat & sometimes he will only eat not even half of his serving? Panzer is always done before him & trying to take Spooks food, I won't let him. I called the vet & they can't get him in until Wed the 20th Panzers appointment is Tuesday the 19th, they said they are full & can't work Spook in on Panzers day. Hopefully Spook continues to eat some & we can wait it out that long. He was struggling a bit with a bowel movement earlier & so was Panzer so they will both get the normal dose @+8 PMPS, Spooks dose has always been 1/4 tsp. I'm trying to rally together reasons why Panzer should be switched to Lantus? I know the Prozinc hasn't been lasting through the duration of the shots anymore for the most part. His cycle tonight so far has been awesome... Questions why Lantus over prozinc? Should I take in a catch of Panzers urine with me to his appointment for a urinalysis? If the catch shows bacteria what antibiotic should we try next or does some other kind of test need done? https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB...4-111-8-puking-questions.261540/#post-2934515

I would just say that based on a lot of reading (if I recall your vet is aware of the forum), ProZinc just isn't letting you get him into the range that you want, in part due to the duration. You're essentially stuck at this 0.5U dose and have been for months now, without room to increase. So, you just want them to humor you and give you a prescription for Lantus/the generic because you think it may help get him where you want and possibly into remission. You're aware it's a U100 and needs different syringes, you're aware it's a depot insulin, etc.

I still don't like that meowing...yes I guess I would bring in a urine sample. And poor spook!

All very true & he is aware of the forum & he copied some of his spreadsheet note book that I keep at his last visit & said he would like it if I could print some of his spreadsheet off for him for Panzers next visit. I'm pretty sure he can access it himself? Gargaline is the generic for Lantus correct? I saw that semaglee was recalled. Yes the meowing is concerning to me as well, I always say what do you want Panzer ? & turn the cat room camera on if he's not where I can see him, sometimes I wonder if he's meowing because he wants to eat sooner than feed time. He only gets his chicky treat after testing. He's begging for food now 20mins till test & eat time.I will take a clean catch of urine to his appointment with me.Yes poor Spook although he was feeling well enough earlier to get a hold of a roll of toilet paper & drug it through the house & left shredds of it though out the house:p he's a brat all on his own LOL

There are two new generics, one is called "insulin glargine yfgn" and I'm blanking on the other (it's also "insulin glargine - some string of letters"). I think a small handful of people on the forum are using them now. Basaglar is a biosimilar, but not exactly the same.

These cats are worse than toddlers!

Okay thanks, Melissa. Yes I never thought I would have a 10yr old & a 5yr old toddler  but I do :bighug:

What a day...got call that my vet has covid. Canceled Panzers Tuesday appointment so I moved him to Spooks day on Wednesday said he needs to be scene even if it's the other vet. So if we have to see Chelsea it will just be for a urinalysis no talk about changing insulin. That unfortunately might have to wait for his may 10th appointment for blood work? Maybe depends on what the urinalysis says. So now Spook doesn't go until April 26th, hope he can hold out that long. I'm almost positive it's a combo of his teeth & not liking certain flavors of food. They are both doing the 5Ps Spook doesn't always finish his food but still eating with me encouraging him & moving food around in his bowl. He doesn't care for fortiflora & if Panzer sees it he absolutely has to have some! He's so rotten, I've noticed him using the litter box no moving around no meowing. I'm not convinced but I think he maybe meowing around the house because he's getting hungry sooner. I gave him 3 chicky treats for testing @+3 an hour before feed time.

So Panzer goes back to the vet tomorrow? Taking Spook's appointment to check his urine? Hope all goes well. Sorry your vet has COVID
Actually they called today & tried to cancel Panzer's appointment tomorrow & I told them that he needs to be seen because I'm almost positive he still has a UTI. They are working him in for a urinalysis on Friday & I am also going to take a clean catch that I get in the am. It will be the other vet so I won't be able to talk about switching insulin. I am really concerned about him today. His PMPS was 174/189 retest & @+3 he is @ 202/218 reteset. The only different that I did today was gave him salmon feast @PMPS feeding. I gave it to him on the 17th PMPS &it didn't effect his #s. Do you think it's because of him most likely still having a UT?

Spook puked on Sunday morning, it was mainly furball because he wouldn't eat at all that morning. He seems to be doing better after that I've only had to coax him to eat a couple of times. Spook has an appointment next Tuesday at the vet.
